We’re only one episode into Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey, and it’s already clear that John Fuda is competing to be the eighth Housewife. He’s heavily involved in the drama this year, but he claims this wasn’t a choice that he made. Instead, he said that he was pushed into a corner by Teresa Giudice.
Ahead of the Season 14 premiere, John and his wife, Rachel Fuda sat down on Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge. During their interview, the husband and wife duo discussed the upcoming season of RHONJ and all of the nasty drama they endured. John said that he felt like he was “being attacked” while filming and had no choice but to clap back and defend himself.
John got a reality check in Season 14
According to John, when he and Rachel first agreed to be a part of RHONJ in Season 13, he wasn’t planning on getting involved in the messiness. He wanted to steer clear of the drama and let his wife shine. Somehow, the drama just sucked him in any way.
“I wanted to have fun with this. I wanted to go out and drink. And have a good time,” John said.
The father of three went on to explain how once he came under “attack” by Teresa, he had no choice but to defend himself. He said he didn’t feel right about how his 2008 arrest was being brought up. Thus, he launched those below-the-belt comments about Teresa being “the poster child for mortgage fraud.”
John explained, “When you are being attacked — and I feel I’m being attacked, you have to — you have to defend yourself. Your past has come out and it’s like that was 20-something years ago – why are you doing that? Why are you digging stuff up from my past? That’s not fair.”
It might not be fair, but unfortunately, this is the reality of the Real Housewives of New Jersey. They fight hard and they fight dirty. During the podcast, Rachel described it as a “toxicity” among the cast.
“I feel like there’s a lot of toxicity in our cast. On our show. And I don’t think there’s a place for it, in any work environment,” Rachel noted.
Season 14 of the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs Sunday nights at 8/7c on Bravo.
