Why Did The Valley Stars Jesse and Michelle Lally Split?

Things are heating up on The Valley. Literally. There’s zero airflow over there, as their farmhouses are all trapped at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains. Likewise, it’s also getting emotionally hot in their breezeless little bowl, as the cracks in Jesse and Michelle Lally’s marriage are starting to form on-air, which we now know results in their split.

Off-air, the drama continued in real-time. Jesse and Michelle separated, and they’re also both dating other people. Needless to say, they’re happy, which is great, as they still have to finish promoting Season 1 together. They also have a daughter that they’ll need to learn how to effectively co-parent, so cheers to peace.

As they continue on with their divorce though, they’re finally choosing to open up about their marriage’s decline. So what was the final straw here, and where do they both stand now?

Their demise and The Dish

In speaking to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Michelle explained that a “combination of things” ultimately led to their decision. “You guys got to see a little bit of the end of our marriage, but there was a lot that I didn’t talk about on TV,” she said, adding, “There wasn’t an aha moment. It was just so many different things, and I realized that nothing was ever gonna change.”

Apparently, the cameras are also to blame. Or maybe to thank, I guess. “Filming actually helped me realize that, because I had to talk about it so often with him and with other people,” Michelle revealed.

“It was just kind of eye-opening to do the TV show. And it kind of also helped me make the decision that it was best if we moved on in our own ways,” she ended.

So, does this mean that Kristen Doute’s claims on Michelle’s alleged affair are completely untrue? The world may never know. On Jesse’s end though, he felt blindsided by their split.

“We all went to Montecito and we had a great time and I look at the pictures and I’m like that’s crazy,” he explained. “Two days later, she sat me down and she was like this is over, like enough is enough. As you see the season progress and come to an end, I get really emotional, and I’ve really given everything I can to making this work.”

Thankfully, Jesse’s now in a better headspace. “It took me a long time to accept, but eventually, you have to move on,” he explained. As for where they stand today, Jesse notes, “We’re getting there.”

Hey, baby steps will still move you forward.

The Valley continues on Bravo, Tuesdays at 9/8c.
