A wise woman in Atlanta once warned a not-so-wise man to “stay out of women’s business.” Unfortunately, that memo never made its way to Rachel Fuda. On this season of Real Housewives of New Jersey, her husband John Fuda is just as much a part of the story as she is. He’s basically an honorary Housewife at this point.
John is such a big part of the storyline that before the Season 14 premiere, he claimed that Teresa Giudice wouldn’t have had anything to talk about this year if it weren’t for him. That’s probably a stretch, but either way, plenty of viewers have criticized John for his behavior this season. Rachel isn’t phased by it. She recently talked to Us Weekly and defended his role in the Housewives drama.
Rachel stands by her man
Criticism towards John is coming from all directions, but Rachel especially took offense to Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp throwing shade during a recent RHONJ recap on their podcast, Two Ts in a Pod. They both argued that John overstepped his role. At one point, Teddi joked that Bravo should give him a tagline since he’s working like a Housewife.
“He’s definitely getting a little bit too involved,” Tamra said. “I think he’s going to learn his lesson after the season not to get so involved. I’m sure he is getting a lot of sh-t about that.”
Rachel strongly disagreed with that. She explained it’s easy to criticize John from the outside, but in reality, he had no choice but to defend himself against Teresa. In her mind, any husband would do the same if they were in his position.
“Everyone can sit here and be like, ‘Oh, John’s the eighth housewife,’ whatever. Say what you want. But if you put the shoe on the other foot, what would you do different? You’re going to defend yourself,” Rachel argued.
According to Rachel, Teresa and her buddies concocted the anti-John storyline before the season even started. She said Teresa has a pattern of attacking people’s husbands. Therefore, it left them “no choice” but to defend themselves. She’s literally out here defending her husband for defending himself. It’s a lot.
Rachel continued, “As far as John having a tagline, what do you want the guy to do? They couldn’t find anything on me, so they went after him. Literally, give him a tagline.”
Although Rachel takes this “very toxic behavior” seriously, she could at least laugh along at the idea of giving John a tagline. He put in the work this season. He deserves it. She jokingly came up with an idea for him: “There’s only one king of New Jersey and his name’s John Fuda.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs new episodes on Sunday nights at 8/7c on Bravo.
