Netflix is expanding the Selling Sunset catalog once again. The newly announced spinoff will take place in New York under the name Selling the City.
Selling Sunset’s superfans are undoubtedly familiar with the show’s existing spinoffs, Selling the OC and Selling Tampa. With the rich history and vast catalog at the franchise’s back, it’s hard to believe that the original premiered in 2019. Of course, if a formula works, then it works. That’s why Selling the OC just wrapped up its third season.
Netflix is no stranger to reality TV production at this point. Its original reality programming attempts to rival the likes of Bravo. While it’s not quite there yet, Selling Sunset is an obvious step in the right direction. With a beautiful cast and lavish sales, what’s not to enjoy? But will the New York chapter have what it takes to succeed?
Everything we know about Selling the City
According to E! News, there’s only so much we know about Selling the City at this point. Netflix has not revealed any cast members nor a release date. However, the report suggested that filming would pick up soon – later this spring – gathering enough footage for eight 45-minute episodes.
And even though the cast remains a mystery, one familiar face will return to the franchise’s latest installment. Adam DiVello, the creator of the other Selling Sunset properties, will return as an executive producer. So, fans of the current Selling Sunset catalog might have confidence in this new installment.
Of course, not everything DiVello touches is automatic gold. Selling Tampa wasn’t renewed for a second season. Selling the City may fall victim to the same fate. Only time will tell. Meanwhile, the fate of Selling the OC is somewhat up in the air. If Netflix renews the show, Season 4 likely won’t air until 2025.
