Alan Cumming Gets Major Deal with NBCUniversal After Traitors Success

Move over, Tom Hanks. We’ve had a great run together, but you’re no longer Number One in my heart. The dashing Alan Cumming has won my adoration with his quick wit, Scottish burr, and stylish kilts. Plus he has a cute dog, Lala, who he often brings to work.

The host and producer of Peacock’s massively popular show The Traitors, Alan has signed a first-look producing deal with NBCUniversal. His new contract includes both scripted and unscripted content and spans NBCU’s entire portfolio of brands.

The Traitors is a psychological murder mystery competition in which players rely on treachery and deceit. During the week of its season two launch, the show was the #1 unscripted series across all US streaming platforms. After it spent five weeks on Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming originals chart, NBCUniversal renewed the show for a third season.

After securing its first Emmy win in Season 1 for Outstanding Casting for a Reality Program, the show’s momentum only grew. In 2024, The Traitors won four Critics Choice Real TV Awards — the most of any series — including Male Star of the Year and Best Show Host for Alan. Step aside, Jeff Probst.

A Tony winner for Cabaret, Alan is a four-time Primetime Emmy nominee. Recognized for his work hosting the Tonys, as well as playing Eli Gold on The Good Wife and its spinoff The Good Fight, Alan is very much in demand.

Season 3 of The Traitors is currently in production at an ancient castle in Alan’s native Scottish Highlands. He will also play Sigmund Freud in the film V13 and participate as a voice actor in the Disney children’s animated series Robogobo. Alan is repped by CAA, Bond Artist Management, and B-Side in the UK.

The Traitors is now streaming on Peacock.
