Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey is tense. Most of the cast is either on Team Melissa Gorga or Team Teresa Giudice. I give props to Dolores Catania for maintaining her status of being friends with both groups.
Well, now it seems like some drama and hurt feelings are moving into Melissa and Joe Gorga’s neighborhood. I’m not sure their new neighbors will be bringing over any cannolis. At least, not anytime soon.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Kathy and Richie Wakile!
When Teresa decided to “cut the cancer out” of her life, she ended her relationship with her cousins, Kathy Wakile and Rosie Pierri. Joe and Melissa backed his sister, thus ending Kathy’s run on RHONJ. But when Kathy’s daughter got married, and the Gorgas weren’t there, her son Joseph Wakile referred to Melissa and Joe as “farm animals.” Melissa responded that the Wakile family was “a little sour about not being on the show any longer.” Later on, Joe admitted to missing Rosie, as they were close growing up. But he wasn’t a big fan of Kathy’s husband, Richie Wakile.
So, when Melissa was a guest on Sirius XM’s Jeff Lewis Live, she was asked about her current relationship with Kathy. “I have a funny story for you actually about that. She … her and Richie just bought the lot on my street across the street from me and they are building a house diagonal from me across the street on my street, literally,” Melissa said. RHONJ viewers are familiar with Melissa’s dream home that they built in Franklin Lakes.
“It’s funny everyone moves to my street. Like, I lived on the other street first also, and then, you know, my sister-in-law moved onto the street,” Melissa explained. “And then now I’m on this street and now Kathy’s moving across the street.”
As for repairing the cousin’s relationship? Melissa is hopeful that it will happen. “Like I secretly hope Joe and Kathy are walking down the street one day and like bump into each other. Because at the end of the day, Kathy’s a good person. And I do think that he regrets it,” the boutique owner stated. “You know, he did what he had to do at the time to back his sister up. But I really think he enjoyed Kathy. Kathy was a good cousin to him.”
Melissa continued, “We are all about, you know, family and screw the show. This has nothing to do with the show. It’s truly about Joe having a cousin that’s now gonna live across the street from him,” she added.
But if it doesn’t happen organically, Melissa is planning to reconcile Kathy and Joe. She said, “I’m going to do it because it is what I want for [Joe] and I think deep down inside he wants it too. It’s not even like it’s a distant cousin you know, it’s a first cousin and her mother’s still here and doing well.” Melissa added, “So I just, it’s you know, Joe’s aunt I don’t know, that’s sad to me.” Maybe Melissa can bring over some sprinkle cookies.
And in a hilarious turn, Joe bid full price on the same lot next to the lake that the Wakiles purchased. It turned out that Kathy was working with the realtor to obtain that lot.
