Owning Manhattan is Netflix’s newest real estate show. The series, which premieres on Friday, June 28, follows Million Dollar Listing star Ryan Serhant and a talented group of agents at his real estate brokerage in New York City. The teaser trailer released earlier this month promised high-stakes, luxury properties, and a bunch of hot people yelling at each other. What more could you ask for?

Reality Tea got the chance to chat with the cast of Owning Manhattan about the show, working with Ryan, and much more…

What can viewers expect?

The Serhant group opened up about what fans can expect from Season 1 of the highly-anticipated new series.

“It’s part Selling Sunset, part Succession, and part Million Dollar Listing,” agent Jeffrey St. Arromand teased. He assured fans there were no made for TV moments this season, describing the series as “genuine” and “real.”

Agent Jessica Markowski echoed Jeffrey’s comment, telling us the show captures the reality of the New York real estate scene.

“I think [viewers] can expect realness,” she said. “The nature of the business, the grind, the effort, and the hustle. They will get to experience all that and more.”

Genesis Suero agreed that the series provides an inside look into the business.

“Viewers can expect a lot of luxury properties, adrenaline, and what it really is to sell New York City, especially Manhattan,” she said.

As far as drama goes, the cast shared there was no shortage of dramatic moments while filming.

“Every single thing that you probably write in your diary happened within filming,” commercial real-estate star Jade Shenker said.

Real estate shows are plentiful these days, especially on Netflix. The platform has released a number of real estate shows in the last five years, including Selling Sunset, Buying Beverly Hills, and Selling the OC. We asked the cast what makes Owning Manhattan unique.

“Well, I’m in it,” agent Tricia Lee joked. She added that the setting of the show makes it special, telling us, “The other thing would be it’s New York. I don’t think it can really compare to other markets … to me, it’s the center of the world.”

Owning Manhattan is Netflix’s first real estate show based in New York City. The change of scenery is a welcome departure from the California-based shows the platform has produced recently.

Agent Jordan March also spoke about the uniqueness of the New York market.

“There is nothing like New York in the entire world and I think we’re putting that back on center stage where it deserves to be,” he said.

Jade credited the special sauce of the show to Ryan’s vision for his company and his agents.

“I think one of the things that Ryan [has] created is a company that understands how to market something,” she said. “The agents that he chooses are strong. We understand how to market things. Not just by creating a video but by understanding who the demographic is. We’re going to grasp people and we’re going to convince [people] to buy this property.”

What is it like working with Ryan?

Ryan’s reputation speaks for itself. He is one of the most successful real estate brokers in the world, selling some of the most impressive properties on the market. We asked the cast to share what it’s like working for a real estate mogul. Several cast members gushed over the man in charge, praising him for his hard work and insider knowledge of the business.

“He’s the best person to work for, ever,” agent Chloe Tucker Caine told us. “He’s the type of boss where if you text him, no matter what time of the day or night, he answers everyone in the company. I could not ask for a better boss and mentor.”

Jordan also shared some kind words about Ryan, stating, “Ryan Serhant is the hardest working man in real estate. He [is] somebody who lives by the clock and keeps his promises. [He] just really thinks outside the box.”

Who stirred up the most drama on the Owning Manhattan cast?

Reality TV is all about the drama, so naturally, we had to ask the cast which of their co-stars was the biggest pot-stirrer this season.

“Drama-wise you can always count on Chloe,” Jonathan Normolle dished. Chloe agreed that she found herself in a lot of drama this season.

“I think it’s me,” she revealed. “I cannot be responsible for things I said or did while I was pregnant.”

Jessica disagreed, bestowing the title of most dramatic to Jonathan.

“I was in a little bit of the drama but I don’t think I’m the most dramatic one,” she said. “I would say Jonathan.”

Owning Manhattan debuts on Netflix on Friday, June 28.
