Kelly Bensimon was meant to be a blushing bride this week, but it seems she got cold feet. The second to last time viewers saw Kelly was during her dramatic performance on Scary Island. At the time, Kelly was paranoid, hungry for gummy bears, and at odds with co-star Bethenny Frankel. It wasn’t the best look for the former Real Housewives of New York star, and she departed the series shortly after.

Fast forward to Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, and producers not only cast Kelly but put her right back in the same house that she was in ten years prior. This time around, Kelly seemed grounded and more level-headed. She still had an airy fairy mindset going on but she wasn’t that same housewife who melted down on St. Barths all those years ago. In fact, she gushed about how she had finally found a compatible partner who was the answer to her long list of prayers. But fans are being told that her prince charming has turned into a frog. Kelly, with her no-holds-bar attitude, isn’t taking a back seat to her wants as she decided she’d rather stay single.

All any Real Housewives star really wants is to make sure their love tank is full. Kelly is no exception to this rule. News broke only hours ago that the former model had called off her wedding to fiancé, Scott Litner. It turns out the breakup occurred just four days before she was meant to walk down the aisle. Kelly told People, “Ultimately, my decision is nobody’s business, but I understand that there is speculation and gossip, and I want to put an end to all of it. To be clear, he refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, and I refused to marry him. Full stop.” The breakup came just a year after Scott got down on one knee. The couple originally met at an infamous Ranger’s game and got engaged in July 2023.

Kelly told Us Weekly that the “major red flag” was the lack of a financial agreement. The former RHONY star noted, “I haven’t come this far in business and life to start making poor decisions because of a man. He, of all people should have understood the need to protect each other before we tied the knot. I’m truly shocked he refused a prenup.” According to Kelly, Scott “thought that I would enter this union without legal protections in place, that I would leave everything to faith.”

Scott is an experienced finance executive, so you think he would have understood the importance of signing a prenup. According to his LinkedIn, Scott has made quite a name for himself in the field of finance. For two decades, he has worked with Bank of America, Lehman Brothers, and Bear Stearns. In 2022, Scott moved to Morgan Stanley, where he serves as the executive director of sports and entertainment. Scott also spends his time on the Development Committee at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Each year, the committee hosts a hockey charity event at Madison Square Garden to benefit The Travis Roy Center For Enhanced Independence at Spaulding

As the story goes, Scott drummed up the courage to go up to the former model to introduce himself. According to an interview with Interview Magazine, Kelly stated, “The security guy is like, ‘No, no, no, you can’t talk to her.’ And my daughter was like, ‘Mommy, he’s like, very attractive. He seems really nice. And his friend is really nice.’ Later on, we found out that was his nephew. So cute, right?” The real estate broker even gushed about everything she loves about Scott. The mother of two shared he is “Super athletic, beautiful family, good person, just easy to be around. There’s no drama. He’s not trying to be on TV. He just wants to do his work, play sports, and be happy. And I love that.”

However, the dream wedding in Boston wasn’t meant to be. Kelly subsequently released another statement via her PR team that read, “Kelly is disappointed by this turn of events. She was looking forward to an exciting new chapter in her life together with Scott when everything became clear to her late on Tuesday afternoon.” Kelly is now taking time to focus on her two daughters. It turns out Kelly is one smart cookie, after all.
