Summer House July Fourth Parties to Remember

Summer House says summer should be fun on July 4th.

Happy Fourth of July! It’s that time of year when we all gather around our BBQs, dress in red, white, and blue, and have an excuse not to worry about work until Monday. As a Summer House fan, Independence Day has a special place within the Bravoverse thanks to the roomie’s amazing themed parties.

Happy birthday, America!

Basically, the July 4th that started it all was Season 1, Episode 3. This, to me, was the quintessential Hampton party as it included kegs, American flag bunting, and lots of flag bikinis. Seven years ago, Summer House viewers were introduced to Kyle Cooke’s mullet, if only a wig at the time. The cast looked the most relaxed at this party. Lindsay Hubbard wore a straw fedora, Amanda Batula was just an ex-girlfriend, and Carl Radke was still drinking. Perhaps my favorite patriotic-themed shirt of the day was Kyle’s “Bomb Pops, Vodka Shots” tank.

This was the kind of party where hot dogs were on the grill, and the pool was being utilized. Every time I do a hard rewatch, this episode gives me such nostalgia for those younger days. My how times have changed. The biggest drama of the day was Lindsay moving in with Everett Weston. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work out.

Summer House Wirkus circus

July Fourth isn’t just about cut-off shorts and paisley pattern tank tops. It is also a time when crushes reach the pinnacle of the summer. Summer House viewers saw this during Season 2’s Independence Day bash. The Montauk mansion was decorated beautifully. The great lawn had tons of games like cornhole and ring toss. The coolers were not yet full of Loverboy, but everyone’s spirits were still high. That was until Lauren Wirkus spilled the beans to Lindsay about her feelings for Carl.

Wearing a “Let’s get wasted” one-piece and patriotic blue bandana, Lauren opened up about her issues with the then-playboy of summer. The beer goggles were clearly on as Lauren expressed how hurt she was by someone who “should honestly be bowing down to me.” Like most best friends, Lindsay just encouraged Lauren to make out with someone under the fireworks to make Carl jealous and shotgun a beer. Classic summer advice!

Sexy Uncle Sam

Bodyshots, red, white, and blue mullets, and togas, oh my! This Fourth of July party was perhaps the sexiest one ever thrown by the roomies. The flag was revamped as Hannah Berner wore it as a cape, and Carl wore it as a Rambo hair accessory. Thanks to a drunken bet, Lindsay had to take off her top after losing a yard game. Thankfully, her overall straps just covered her nipples.

Kyle was back on the prowl in “mid-mullet mode,” and none of the single women were remotely interested. Is it even the Fourth of July if Kyle doesn’t get shot down? This party highlighted the group’s love of rosé and it was pretty standard to see Kyle chugging out of a gigantic vessel.

What would Jesse Solomon do?

Well, Jesse Solomon would sit comfortably back in an Adirondack chair and bask in the glory that is him. This year’s Fourth of July party was a bit more subdued. Hotdogs and Loverboys still existed, but the fireworks weren’t in the sky. Jesse found himself with a major crush. Sadly, it was on Paige DeSorbo, who has been off the market for a while. But that didn’t stop Jesse, who asked Kyle, “Am I only supposed to hit on the single girls?” Luckily, Paige knew how to have a good time without making things awkward. Consequently, Jesse, like America, knew he was great and wasn’t thwarted.

 The Summer House Tea Party

Even though it wasn’t a July Fourth party, it was in the same month, and the theme was too good to leave off the list. Kyle had also decided to have a protesting growing-up tea party, complete with British red coat costumes. Nothing screams Independence Day like driving the red coats out of town. The BBQ even ended with a little Boston Tea Party of their own as the roomies dumped tons of teabags into the pool. Even though Kyle wasn’t successful in renting his version of the Santa Maria, the guest preferred the blow-up pirate ship instead.

Finally, I hope this walk down memory lane made you a little more patriotic today. Just remember, summer should be fun, and Happy Fourth of July!

Summer House can be streamed on Peacock.
