Everyone has tried their hand at Photoshop at one time or another. Even the future Queen of England, Kate Middleton, has dabbled in a tweaking of a photo. But I would argue that altering a photo has gone too far. It seems especially upsetting when a reality star gets caught because they are supposed to be real. I mean, it is in the job title. So I wasn’t exactly surprised when Real Housewives of New Jersey OG Teresa Giudice was called out for a recent photograph that looked so bizarre it was hard to defend.

Last week, Teresa made the ultimate faux pas. She posted a birthday shout-out to her close friend, Larsa Pippen. These Real Housewives aren’t exactly the poster girls for natural beauty. Both have had enhancements to their body, so it seemed odd that Teresa would botch a photo of themselves. In the July 6th post, Tre wrote, “Happy Birthday to my girl @larsapippen wishing you all the best to come. Love you.” Accompanying the kind words was a photo of both women in their bathing suits. Their hair was perfectly styled as they apparently stood in front of the ocean. But eagle-eyed viewers were quick to note that it looked like they had been copied and pasted into the scene. You could see the white frame around their sandy toes.
Followers were quick to call out the mother of four. One fan wrote, “What in the photoshop is happening?”Another added, “Did Hellen Keller photoshop this?” While a third quipped, “Were y’all teleported to the beach or…” Some followers questioned if Teresa hadn’t purposely messed up the photo to get a high volume of traffic on the post. As for Larsa, she just commented, “Love u so much.” Teresa turned off the comments just two hours after she posted the photo.

On more than one occasion, Teresa has been called out for wearing and trying to sell designer dupes. Multiple social media accounts have been following her fashion choices and noticed many were not on the up and up. The mother of four has loved pretending to wear her dupes of Balenciaga, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton. But it seems that some of her fake creations haven’t passed the inspection line.
While wearing a Balenciaga shirt, the account noted, “Oh Tre, you look GORGEOUS as ever, but that logo looks straight up like a blob on your chest. As you can easily tell, the logo is wrong, the shirt color is off, and the cut of the shirt is different. Shirts are screen printed to avoid errors and to make every shirt exact.” There have even been times when Tre partnered with the companies who made the dupes to make a few extra bucks.
What’s wrong with being real?
After this latest kerfuffle, I find myself asking, “What is wrong with just being real?” Teresa is not the only culprit when it comes to the Real Housewives world. Many have turned to Ozempic to drop a few pounds. And while some admit to using the drug, others gloss over that fact and pretend they achieved the results with hard work and good eating. It doesn’t seem fair that the women feel so brazen when portraying themselves falsely. The amount of money and fights spent on the glam squads and stylists is absurd. While I love seeing the women dolled up, the pressure to have the perfect body or the best designers seems to have jumped to a whole new level in recent years.
When it comes to Teresa, it feels like she is hiding behind a mask of makeup and hair. Almost all of her Instagram posts are of her completely made up, wearing layers of makeup, fake tan, and false eyelashes. Even her four daughters have started to turn into a mini version. Like it or not, Teresa is a role model to many. In a world full of filters and pressure, surely the message Teresa should be sending is that you should be happy in your own skin.
