Teaser Trailer: Former Dance Moms Star Gloria Hampton Leads ‘New Era’ Reboot

It’s out with the old and in with the new! Hulu just announced a brand-new series called Dance Moms: A New Era, and Abby Lee Miller is nowhere to be found. Instead, a new grumpy dance coach has entered the studio: Gloria Hampton. The Dance Moms reboot is officially on the way…

Your first look at the reboot, Dance Moms: A New Era

You might recognize Gloria from her brief appearances throughout the original run of Dance Moms. In Season 3, she popped up when Abby tried to recruit her daughter to the Abby Lee Dance Company. When that fell through, Gloria and her daughter ended up working with a rival team.

Now, Gloria is stepping into the role that Abby once held, which we know is driving Abby crazy. After her exit from Lifetime, she has been desperately trying to revive the Dance Moms concept with limited success. These days, the only time she grabs headlines is when she’s making weird comments about high school football players.

Gloria isn’t the first person to take over the coaching role on Dance Moms. In 2017, Cheryl Burke briefly took over the show, which at this point, seems like a fever dream. Abby quickly came back in 2018 before the show eventually faded away.

In the years since the original Dance Moms, the girls have been candid about the negative impact the show had on them. Recently, a handful of the cast members sat down for a reunion, where they all commiserated over their unique childhood experiences.

In the teaser for the new series, you can see that Gloria is trying her best to do the intimidation tactics that Abby mastered. We’re just hoping that she doesn’t go quite as hard on these kids. We don’t want to hear about another group of young girls being traumatized for the sake of reality TV.

Dance Moms: A New Era premieres on Hulu on August 7.
