If you think of the best party planner in the Real Housewives universe, Iâd wager that Ms. Fancy Pants herself, Heather Dubrow, would be the first Bravoleb that springs to mind. The mother of four prides herself on her ability to send an invitation to everyone and also create a lasting memory in her guestâs minds. Heather is seen as a âmom to allâ with her goal of bringing people together to experience one great gathering. And while weâve seen some over-the-top parties in our time, none ever compare to the ones Mrs. Dubrow throws at the drop of a hat.Â
Rule #1: Heather Dubrow says, invite everyone
Heather has one major rule, and that is always to be inclusive of the entire group. It has me thinking âYou get an invite! And you get an invite!â One of the best lessons we can learn from the Real Housewives of Orange County star is that even if you arenât best friends with all the women, everyone deserves a seat at the table. Heatherâs invitations are usually stunning and quite creative. While not everyone was a fan of her monogramming invites during Season 17, the East Coaster still knows exactly what should be included on the proper invite. This includes date, time, and dress code.Â
To cultivate the perfect invite, Heather must curate the perfect guest list. The actress once told Pure Wow, âThis is very important. Once, I hosted a dinner party, and I sat two people at my table who didnât get along at allâand I had no idea.â According to Heather, âA good rule of thumb is that if you wouldnât want the guest at your own table, they shouldnât be invited to your dinner party, period. The only exception to this rule is if they are family, of course.â Good to know!Â
Rule #2: Always have good food and champagne
For Heather, it is important that she has the best food and drink available. Who could forget the party where she had Nobu catering? That particular party never even made it to the first course and cost the housewife $36,000. The menu included high-end sushi and Wagyu beef. But thatâs just a drop in the bucket. Even her last-minute get-togethers have a perfectly quaffed menu. A thrown-together menu for Heather could include ahi tuna, French onion soup, chopped salad, steak, chicken, onion rings, French fries, and a variety of desserts. Letâs not forget, Terry Dubrowâs favorite food is the onion ring. If all else fails, Heather makes sure to have lots of Veuve flowing.Â
Rule # 3: Heather Dubrow advises, Dress to impress
Heather never misses a chance to show off her fashions. She has impeccable taste and rarely is labeled a bad dresser. So, when it comes to picking out the perfect outfit for a party, Heather is all about being practical. If the invite states what to wear, you listen. Heather once threw a country BBQ complete with bandanas and jean shorts. But if she is headed out to a cocktail party, she works a perfectly lovely little black dress. As the saying goes, youâd rather be overdressed than underdressed.Â
Rule #4: Decorations and distractions
During a Season 16 scene, Heather stated, âTo me, a dinner party is like putting on a stage production.â The decor for this particular part wowed fans and Terry, who was left speechless. Heather donned her dining room table topped high with a goody bag for each guest. The podcaster also had printed menus, immaculate glassware, and stunning pink and white florals. Heather is also known to put her guests to work at any Dubrow party.
While most of us are probably very content eating hors dâoeuvres and getting the slightest bit tipsy, Heather insists that there comes a point during every party when the flow needs to be directed. Heather once shared, âA dance break or karaoke works. If youâre into puzzles, then set up a corner table with that!â Heather also likes to turn the tables sometimes and bring in some out-of-the-box distractions.Â
Heather is always ahead of the trend as she recalled, âTwelve years ago on RHOC, I heard about this woman who reads lipstick prints. Now, that sort of thing is everywhere, but back then, it was very unique. She called herself a âlipologist âand guests would swipe on lipstick, kiss an index card and she would read their lipstick print, like reading their palm.â I canât say that I wouldnât want a lipstick reading. If youâre reading this, Heather, my mailbox is ready and waiting for one of your classic invites! Â
