Shannon Beador Reveals How Her Children Reacted to Her DUI

It’s been another rough year for Shannon Beador. She crashed her car and got busted for DUI with her beloved dog, Archie Beador, right there as a witness. After Shannon’s major mistake, the only thing worse than confronting her Real Housewives of Orange County costars was facing her children.

Shannon shares three daughters with her ex, Sophie, Stella, and Adeline. When we first met them on RHOC, they were just little kids but highly perceptive of the deep issues between their parents. Now that they’re in their twenties, you can imagine how hard it must have been when Shannon’s DUI hit the headlines.

Shannon wanted forgiveness

Shannon spoke to People about the “humiliating” emotions she felt when discussing the DUI with her daughters. We got a glimpse of it during the RHOC Season 18 premiere, and she asked her daughters for forgiveness. Now, she elaborated on just how embarrassing that felt.

“I’m a huge lecturer on never drinking and driving, and for me at my age to be setting such a poor example was just devastating,” Shannon said. “I made a horrible, horrible decision. I think about it every day, and I’m so grateful that I didn’t hurt anyone.”

According to Shannon, her daughters were “shocked” when they found out the news, but they’ve found forgiveness. She entered counseling after the DUI and has supposedly been working on healing the emotional issues that led her to drink so heavily in the first place.

“There’s a lot of guilt and shame, and my kids are forgiving,” Shannon admitted. “They don’t like it when I express to them how upset I still am that it happened.”

As we approach the anniversary of Shannon’s DUI, she said that she feels like she’s “back on track.” She still drinks but has found other coping mechanisms. She’s drawing strength from her daughters and of course, the man upstairs.

“I am grateful that I have such loving kids, but I am still working on myself, and I believe that God has a plan,” Shannon shared.

Real Housewives of Orange County airs new episodes on Bravo, Thursday nights at 9/8c.
