Andy Cohen confirmed the worst fears among current Real Housewives of New Jersey fans. But with a dwindling viewership and a cast more difficult to control than children, there may have been no other option.
At Season 13’s conclusion, the cast was irreparably divided. The split between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga was too much to heal. The cast accordingly divided into teams, which made filming Season 14 rather difficult.
Things became so heated and violent that Bravo canceled the Season 14 reunion. In its place would be a finale watch-along from the cast. However, with viewers already turning on the show, any reunion replacement seemed DOA. Now, RHONJ as we know it might be done for good.
Andy says RHONJ will be rebooted
On a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the big man responded to a rather disappointed listener. The caller described RHONJ as boring and hoped certain storylines would be dropped completely. Andy responded, “Have you heard that we’re gonna do big changes to the show?” The caller certainly had not heard, along with many other listeners.
“Well, yes, we are rebooting the show,” Andy said blatantly. “We’re gonna reboot it,” he confirmed again. “We’re gonna do something different.” Perhaps that didn’t come as a total surprise to those keeping up with New Jersey. For what it’s worth, the caller argued that Teresa should stay on the show. “Teresa is the show,” she said.
Unfortunately for Tre fans (or any current cast fans), Andy said, “We’re gonna see what we do. We’ll see. I don’t know. Maybe just all fresh faces.” The reboot formula certainly worked for Real Housewives of New York, as far as viewers know. And RHONY also skipped the reunion before its rebooted season. So, things certainly don’t bode well for the current RHONJ cast.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 finale airs Sunday, August 4, at 8/7c on Bravo.
