Carl Radke’s dream of opening a non-alcoholic bar is finally coming true! The Summer House star has been sober for three and a half years now and wants to give back to his community.
He announced his intention to open “a cafe and bar that only serves non-alcoholic drinks” during Part 2 of the Summer House Season 8 Reunion. On July 30, Carl shared the good news that his new business will be called “Soft Bar + Cafe.”
The bio of Soft Bar’s official Instagram account promises the new business will be “popping up … summer 2024.” The “Coming Soon” announcement also tags the establishment as “Brooklyn’s first non-[alcoholic] bar + cafe for mindful consumption.”
“It’s officially happening!”
Although details about the new bar are sketchy, one of his posts on the official Soft website proclaims, “From daily operations to ambiance to individual drinks, we do it all with much thought and the best intentions.”
Another post touts: “Drinks with benefits. We consider every sip: Is it enhancing? Is it delicious? Is it worth another? At Soft Bar, the answer is always yes.”
Carl first talked about his desire to open a “dry” bar in Season 8, Episode 3 of Summer House.
“So, I’m proud to be a voice for things that I’ve been through,” Carl told his then-fiancé, Lindsay Hubbard, “[I hope to] help other people … So I’ve been thinking about a sports bar, non-alcoholic. A sober sports bar.”
Lindsay wasted no time throwing cold water on Carl’s dream: “I’m gonna have to say no to that one. Working in the hospitality industry my entire life … I don’t want that for our future family.”
But who needs Lindsay? Following their split, Carl revealed on the season reunion that he was moving ahead with his plan.
“I want to lean into non-alcoholic stuff, whether it’s opening a cafe or sports bar, which, by the way, I’m about to,” he said at the time. “I’ve got a team together, we’ve raised some money, and we’re actually going to open something here in New York.”
“It feels like my calling,” he added. “It’s finally looking at me, and I want to go pursue that.”
All episodes of Summer House are now streaming on Peacock.
