Carl Radke hasn’t had an easy time in the public eye recently. The last season of Summer House ended with his dramatic breakup with Lindsay Hubbard just weeks before their scheduled wedding. Now Lindsay is pregnant, both are still seemingly filming for the next season of the show and Carl is still trying to figure out his path.
Carl announced this week that he’s moving forward with his plans to open a non-alcoholic bar in New York City. He’s dubbed it Soft, which was triggering to Summer House fans. If you remember, Carl kept demanding that Lindsay act “softer” last season while trying to repair their relationship. Despite what many people perceived as shade, Carl is setting the record straight on his inspiration for the name.
Carl wasn’t referencing his ex
In a statement to Page Six, Carl revealed that his European travels inspired his upcoming non-alcoholic bar Soft. He says he noticed many places in Europe referring to non-alcoholic drinks as “soft cocktails” or “soft.” Sure, but there’s no way he didn’t remember how explosive that word was to his relationship. Plus, Lindsay was never all-in on Carl’s idea of opening a non-alcoholic bar in the first place. So, it had to be somewhere in the back of his mind.
”I was sharing this thought during a conversation with my co-founder as we discussed raising the bar in the non-[alcoholic] space, ultimately leading us to the name ‘Soft Bar,’” Carl said in the statement about his European discoveries. While he didn’t mention his ex by name, it seems like Carl wants to steer the conversation as to why he landed on the name for his bar. Regardless, we have to laugh at the pettiness, even if it was unintentional.
