Jax Taylor Enters Rehab For ‘Mental Health Struggles’ Rep Confirms

The Valley star Jax Taylor has been struggling since his wife Brittany Cartwright left him back in February 2024, just weeks before the debut of their new show.

Now word has come out that Jax has checked himself into rehab, seeking “in-patient treatment” for “mental health” and behavioral issues. Good for him! I hope it works, for the sake of both himself and his family.

A rep for the Vanderpump Rules alum shared, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast. He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter.”

“Brave enough to ask” for help

Jax’s decision to enter rehab for his “mental health struggles” comes nearly six months after his wife of four years walked out.

Just weeks before the premiere of their Pump Rules spinoff, Brittany announced the split on their shared podcast. “Jax and I are taking time apart,” she said on their When Reality Hits podcast. “I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

The couple made it clear at the time that their highest priority was the well-being of their three-year-old son Cruz. “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mom to Cruz,” Brittany emphasized.

Over the weekend, Jax posted a Buddhist quote on his Instagram page. “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and be brave enough to ask for it,” he shared. His decision to enter rehab came shortly afterward.

Brittany explains it all

There were many reasons for Jax and Britt’s split, including lack of respect, financial issues, and their allegedly “sexless marriage.”

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Britt said, “We just had a horrible fight, and it was like a veil was lifted, and I noticed everything wrong.” She hit “her breaking point,” adding, “It’s hard to come back from that.”

The couple’s relationship first went downhill following their firing from VPR in 2020. They experienced financial issues when they suddenly lost their main source of income.

“It was definitely a difficult time in our relationship,” said Britt. “It kind of shifted gears, [and] I became the breadwinner because I was still working. I was doing commercials and different brand deals.”

“I was super lucky to have all that happen for me,” the Kentucky native continued. “But Jax wasn’t having the same stuff happening for him. So, it was a big shift in our relationship that kind of took a toll for a while.”

In the meantime, I applaud Jax’s honesty in admitting he needs some help. I hope he gets the tools he needs for a more successful life.

The Valley is now streaming on Peacock.
