The villain of Vanderpump Rules has never been the number one guy in the group. For ten years, Jax Taylor made his co-stars’ lives a living hell. He often mocked them from behind the bar. In 2020, Jax was allegedly fired from the series after a scandal involving Faith Stowers. But after a few years of respite, Jax came back stronger than ever on The Valley. The companion of chaos wasn’t as nearly as dastardly as years prior; Jax was still able to stir the pot. Fans watched as his marriage to Brittany Cartwright started to crumble, leaving him unsure of what to do next.
During the season finale of The Valley, Brittany was seen at her wit’s end after Jax didn’t follow through on his word. She was tired of being treated poorly and talked down to. More than once, fans watched as Brittany was gaslit by Jax on the show.
Brittany Cartwright begged Jax Taylor to seek treatment
In her confessional, the mother of one stated, “Jax has been saying that he’s gonna go to therapy for years now. The day before we pick cameras back up, he all of a sudden has an appointment to go see the doctor?” Our little Kentucky Muffin wasn’t convinced her husband was trying to turn over a new leaf. She added, “This is all a front; this is what he wants everyone to see and believe, that he’s actually gonna do these things to change. I bet you money he will not do it.”
And B was not wrong. When asked by production if he was too afraid to go to a session, he answered, “That, and it was really far.” During the same episode, Jax told Brittany he had made a therapy appointment in Malibu. The location didn’t make sense. Since on a good day with no Los Angeles traffic, it would take 40 minutes to drive. But B was annoyed that he hadn’t made the original appointment two months earlier when she had first asked him to. For the former Hooters girl, it was just a little too late.
Jax Taylor has not been kind to his VPR costars
During a Watch What Happens Live episode, Brittany mentioned Jax was “extremely stubborn” about seeking professional help with their marriage. His lack of motivation to better their union was the last straw for Brittany, who moved out in March. Jax hasn’t always been the nicest to his co-stars when it came to their own mental health struggles. Controversy’s favorite stepchild always seemed to put his foot in it.
During Season 8, Jax came across as extremely dismissive about Ariana Madix’s depression while talking to Scheana Shay. While causally ridiculing Tom Sandoval and Ariana’s relationship, noting it was all a facade, he states that he doesn’t know “the most negative person ever” that well. Jax shared he felt like Ariana was using her depression to her benefit. The Valley star went as far as to say, “Every time you’re okay, and then you don’t like something, the way the conversation is going — ‘I’m depressed!’”
Jax Taylor is looking to better himself
This week, Jax revealed he had decided to check himself into an in-treatment facility for his mental health. In an Instagram post of him holding his son, Jax wrote, “Working on getting better for you, buddy, I love you.” In another post, he simply wrote, “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.”
A rep for Jax told Us Weekly, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast. He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter.”
No matter what the reformed bad guy of Vanderpump Rules is going through, we wish him all the best. Here’s hoping for a speedy healing journey, Jax!
