Another fresh face is set to join the Below Deck Med Season 9 crew! New cast member Carrie O’Neill is the latest Stew to come on board the Mustique. Naturally, this means the drama won’t stop, as we’ve only just reached the midpoint of Season 9.

Save for Captain Sandy Yawn and franchise alum Aesha Scott, this season featured an entirely new cast. This was probably necessary after Season 8. The crew brought a lot of workplace drama, with fights over both personal and professional disagreements. Additionally, the charters have been plenty chaotic, to say the least. With seven episodes left, it looks like the drama is just beginning.

So, who is Carrie, and how will she mix things up on the Mustique? Read on below to find everything we know about the BDM newbie so far.

The Below Deck Med midseason trailer teases Carrie’s arrival, and shows how the Glasgow, Scotland native shakes up the already messy Mustique. When Captain Sandy Yawn suggests bringing on an extra stew, the overwhelmed Chief Stew Aesha Scott jumps for joy and feigns happy tears. An extra pair of hands is sorely needed, especially since the trailer ends with a hurricane flooding the cabin. However, it also means there’s an extra source of drama.

Carrie complicates BDM Season 9’s love triangle

Much of the BDM Season 9 drama revolves around the love triangle between Elena “Ellie” Dubaich, Bri Muller, and deckhand Joe Bradley. By comparison to that mess, the love triangle between Gael Cameron, her (now ex) boyfriend, and Nathan Gallagher was easy as pie. The fighting between Bri and Ellie got so bad that Captain Sandy and Aesha had to get involved. It’s also continued off-screen. Somehow, Carrie’s arrival will make things even messier. At least she warned everyone in her intro, remarking that her friends call her a “pathological flirt.”

While Joe insists to Nathan that he’s not going to get involved with yet another beautiful blonde stew on the ship, Nathan predicts otherwise. And rightfully so, as the trailer quickly shows Joe doesn’t stick to that. Instead, it cuts to footage of him and Carrie flirting, kissing, and getting very, very cozy in the van. Not to mention him admiring Carrie as she twerks in her uniform. As Bri says, “I was the starter, Ellie was the main, and she’s the desert.” What is it about Joe Bradleys on Bravo having wild love triangles?

What Carrie has to say about her BDM Season 9 experience

Carrie may get involved in the season’s most dramatic storyline, but it sounds like there are no hard feelings between her and the rest of the crew. When asked who she got along with best, Carrie couldn’t name just one Mustique crew member. “I loved all of the crew,” she told Bravo, “I can’t choose.” Maybe that means Ellie and Bri will stick to fighting each other, instead of taking on the new girl?

What else do we know about Carrie so far?

Carrie may be a newbie to Below Deck Med, but she’s no novice to the yachting industry. In fact, before joining the show, she already had a decade of experience. In an interview with Bravo, she said her favorite place she’s been so far while yachting is Bermuda. She’s very aware that her career means there’s sometimes all work and no play. As she told Bravo, some people may be surprised to learn that “sometimes we work weeks or even months without a day off.”

When she’s off the boat, Carrie says, “I like to socialize or head off on a long run. I’m always up for an activity.” Amongst her favorite activities, she lists “snowboarding, horse riding, running, or anything high adrenaline-related.” Born on July 29th, her star sign is Leo. We’ll have to see if she has a fiery personality to match that fire sign.

Surely, viewers will learn much more about Carrie over the remaining seven episodes. In the meantime, you can catch up on past episodes of Below Deck Med by streaming it on Peacock.
