In January, the Bravosphere was rocked by the news that Shannon Beador and John Janssen had called it quits. Real Housewives of Orange County fans were not exactly surprised that the relationship didn’t work as it was toxic. But more the fact that Shannon went through with the breakup even though it would mean she’d be back in the dating pond. The duo had a questionable relationship at best. John was often MIA when it came time to film scenes together. And when he was filmed, he seemed irate. Even when they have gone their separate ways, it still feels like John wants to poke the bear when it comes to Shannon. Here are the optics.
John Janssen sues over a facelift
If it’s his money and she owes him… In March, when it was revealed John was suing Shannon over a facelift, I thought the man had finally lost it. Honestly, who sues over something so strange? John claimed that he lent the Real for Real founder $40,000 in January 2022. And another in May 2023, all in the name of vanity. John claims she agreed to pay him back, and the mother of three claims it was a gift.
Is John Janssen a user?
Other housewives have claimed John had a pretty cushy life with Shannon more than once. Except for when she was screaming at his kids, I suppose. During Season 10, Heather Dubrow revealed in a confessional that “Shannon pays for everything. The family dynamic isn’t great. And he’s never slept over, and his son lives with him, so she doesn’t go over there.” According to Emily Simpson, who became visibly upset, “John called [Shannon] names and said that she’s fat or unattractive. I don’t feel like he’s invested in their relationship, and I feel like she’s wasting her time and I feel like she can do better.”
During the season premiere, Emily reiterated what she heard: “Shannon has been telling me nothing for three years except he doesn’t pay for anything. He takes advantage of her.” Right, Shannon says… But she needs to borrow $75k from him to get her face done.
Luckily, the newest episode of RHOC had Vicki Gunvalson spilling the tea. The OG of the OC all but confirmed what some of the other housewives have been thinking. The mother of three screamed at her friend, “You paid for all the upgrades on the flights, all the clothing, all his paraphernalia. And that’s only the stuff I know. He’s a jerk.” Again, at some point, she needed his money for something or they wouldn’t be having legal issues.
Is John Janssen spiteful or over it?
I think the cherry on top of this breakup had to be the fact that John took Alexis Bellino to the same gym he once shared with Shannon. Oooooooooo, demon stuff right there! To add insult to injury, John is now asking for punitive damages when it comes to his facelift lawsuit. I suppose he is owed if he gave Shannon money and she’s not paying it back, according to In Touch,
John basically laughed at the idea (I assume) that the case be dismissed and doubled down. John’s lawyers argued, “Mr. Janssen’s request for punitive damages is warranted by the facts and claims alleged in the [complaint], which sufficiently allege malice and fraud by alleging that [Shannon] acted with the intent to induce Mr. Janssen to rely on her misrepresentations to defraud Mr. Janssen into loaning money to Defendant that she never intended to repay. [Shannon’s] fraudulent intent is further evidenced by her continued assurances to Mr. Janssen that she would repay the loans and her recent attempt to characterize the loans — for the very first time — as “gifts” that she is not required to repay.”
Clearly, there is no love lost between these two.
