Is Shannon Beador finally maturing into her age? Maybe. At the very least, she appears to be making new realizations each day. Realizations about herself and about Tamra Judge.
For those who are way behind on their Real Housewives of Orange County lore, Shannon was arrested for driving under the influence last year. The DUI took an enormous toll on her, which fans saw snippets of in RHOC Season 18.
Shannon’s choice to drive while drunk also contributed to her eventual split from Tamra. In an on and off again friendship, Tamra decided the DUI set things in the off position once again. But at this point, Shannon’s feeling okay with that.
Shannon implies she’s Tamra’s storyline this season
In an interview with Extra, Shannon admitted, “I was using alcohol to cope because I was miserable, and so I needed to figure out why I was making toxic choices in my life, and drinking and consuming more alcohol during certain periods of my life was part of that. But I also wanted to dig deeper and I’m glad that I chose that program.”
Shannon revealed that it was hard to watch the season back, but she’d since developed other coping mechanisms. And given all the stress Tamra allegedly caused her, she certainly needed a way to cope. Isn’t this how she copes with everything though? “I think if Tamra wasn’t talking about me, I don’t know really what else she’d be talking about this season,” Shannon jabbed.
“If the fans and the viewers believe what she has to say about me, then I’m sorry that they do, because she’s not telling truths about me at all. I know the person that I am and those close to me do, and that’s good enough for me.” She added, “She can continue to be unkind and cruel, I’m just not interested anymore.”
Shannon reflected on her history with Tamra, saying, “I always go back. It’s not healthy for me to enter a toxic friendship, and that shows growth within me to say, ‘I’m going to create a boundary and we’re not going to be friends anymore.’”
