Why Kyle Chan Stood by ‘Brother’ Tom Sandoval

Tom Sandoval found himself standing amidst a shrinking circle of friends during Vanderpump Rules Season 11. Affairs will do that to a guy. When the majority of your friends are also tight with your cheated-on partner, coming out on top is rare. Luckily for Tom, Kyle Chan chose to stand by his “brother” no matter what because that’s what the keeping type of friends do.

Kyle’s name became synonymous in the Pump Rules universe after Tom’s affair with Rachel Leviss broke the internet. Kyle knew about Tom’s dipped-around dipstick long before anyone else, yet he never left Tom’s side. Even when the fans and Tom’s costars ran in the opposite direction, Kyle ran towards Tom. Like a fireman running into flames to save a life, so is Kyle.

Kind of.

Speaking to Page Six, Kyle touched on his friendship with Tom. He also called his fallen friend a much kinder F-word; “family.” Before anyone grows upset, Kyle notes that Tom is responsible for his affair. “I know for a fact that it was Tom’s fault. It’s not rocket science,” he joked.

“But I also think that whoever needs me at the time, I would stand by them, and that was my only takeaway,” Kyle added. On Tom’s fall from grace after cheating on Ariana Madix, Kyle states that he “didn’t like what Tom did.” But he isn’t willing to “kick” his “brother to the curb when everybody [else] does.”

However, Kyle admits that this past year and a half has not been “an easy path,” as his support of Tom saw him getting “a little bit [of backlash].” Yet, Kyle also thinks that many “people understand” why he had to support Tom during his downward spiral era.

Despite his support of Tom, Kyle still refuses to take sides. Instead, he continues to support both Tom and Ariana moving forward. We love a multi-sided character. And we also know Tom loves having an unwavering friend in Kyle.

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
