There is no question that Jennifer Aydin loves being in the limelight. It doesn’t matter if she cracks jokes, impersonates her friends, or verbally eviscerates her enemies; she is happy as long as the spotlight is shining on her. Like most reality TV stars, Jennifer had a taste of the small screen way before the Real Housewives of New Jersey. And once the acting bug bit her, she couldn’t break away. Even though her big break was Bravo, Jen was more than prepared for a life that highlighted her opulent living situation.

Watching yourself back acting like a total Regina George must be embarrassing. But Jen does it with such style that you might start to think this is who she really is. So when I stumbled upon Jen’s first reality TV series eight years ago, I had to sit down and binge-watch it. Naturally, I was appalled, but it’s good to see Jen hasn’t changed a bit.

Jennifer Aydin, the reality TV personality

Back in 2015, Jennifer was on a series called New Money. As the name suggests, cameras followed around faces who lived fabulous lives and considered themselves the one percent. The term refers to the wealthiest people in society who claim to have the most money and the most power. The term, one percent is mainly used to describe the top 1% of Americans by annual income. In 2022, those in the one percent earned $785,968, so I’d love to see Bill Aydin’s tax return.

Jennifer Aydin sticks to the same old script

As Real Housewives of New Jersey fans have seen multiple times, Jen loves to brag about her wealth. She is great at using her husband’s income as a weapon when it comes to putting down the other women. But as Danielle Cabral insinuated, Jen can’t fill those empty rooms up with love. But it seems with some money and one of the biggest homes in Paramus, NJ, Jen knew how to market her lifestyle. Naturally, Jen found herself a spot on this six-episode season.

In the clip from the 2015 E! Show, Jen is featured as the “jewelry kingpin.” The opening scene has Jen repeating a classic rich girl mantra, such as, “The stores love having me as a customer.” We’ve watched Jen in a store, and she comes off as pretentious, so I doubt any sales associate enjoyed waiting on her. In another clip, Jen can be heard saying, “I lost all concept of the dollar. I couldn’t even tell you what a carton of eggs cost.” They cost a lot, Jen, a lot.

Jennifer Aydin feels right at home in front of the camera

If anyone remembers MTV Cribs, this is the feeling I got from watching New Money. Jen was in her element as she walked around her giant home, giving a tour. But we didn’t get a glimpse of the pool house (I assume Bill was hiding out in it.) One of the last scenes shows Jen walking through a Turkish store, stating, “We need diamonds on the hookahs.”  However, Jen imparts some wisdom to viewers as she educates them on the value of silver. Towards the end of her episode, she even invited cameras into the nursery, where she showed off her Chanel bag collection. Jen proceeded to tell viewers, “The average price for a classic Chanel is about $5,000, and I have 20, so do the math.” Jen was insufferable then, and she is now.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 really highlighted just how self-obsessed Jen is with herself. Instead of being kind to her co-stars, she often chose to bring them down by picking on their looks. The mother of five seems to get some sick pleasure out of mocking her co-star’s looks and making sure to reiterate she has the most money. But as Luann de Lesseps sings, “Money can’t buy you class.” Looking back on New Money, I see that Jen is the same person she is now; she is a bit snobby and has an inferiority complex. But the mall she can see from her home, Garden State Plaza, has YSL and Gucci, so she can at least continue to torment the staff while she shops.

Real Housewives of New Jersey can be streamed on Peacock.
