Buying Beverly Hills is done, much to Mauricio Umansky’s assumed dismay. Other real estate shows will fill the void, but such programs won’t have the familial drama that BBH is known for.
Fans came to know Mauricio from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, after all. His marital problems with Kyle Richards served as the backbone for RHOBH Season 13. Or so it seemed. Kyle and Mauricio weren’t too keen on discussing things in front of cameras.
The two ended up showing much more vulnerability on their Netflix show. But despite the buzz that was created, it wasn’t enough to justify a third season. Shame that the show had to go out with a whimper more than a bang. So, what happened?
Why did Buying Beverly Hills get canceled?
On August 16, Deadline reported that Netflix axed Buying Beverly Hills after just two seasons. Why? Well, it’s not all that complicated or shocking. Sources told Deadline that the viewership simply couldn’t justify the cost of production. Mauricio and his family have yet to say anything about the show’s cancellation.
In fact, on Mauricio’s Instagram, the pinned comment is still promotional material for Buying Beverly Hills’ second season. Nevertheless, while Mau and his kids might be a little disappointed, perhaps they should consider themselves lucky. Most shows on Netflix barely receive any online attention, much less a second season.
One might argue that the streaming service is producing far too much content. But even still, Buying Beverly Hills had almost every shot in the world thanks to the RHOBH fanbase. Unfortunately, the draw just wasn’t there for enough people. It might not have helped that RHOBH Season 13 left many viewers disappointed.
