With the popularity of TLC’s Seeking Sister Wife and Sister Wives, it isn’t a surprise that Hulu wanted to jump on the bandwagon. The streaming service has come with its own version of a hit show entitled The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. The feel is giving me Real Housewives of Salt Lake City meets Mob Wives. The women are young, hot, and technically savvy. They aren’t your everyday Mormons who wear pastel petticoats and braid each other’s hair.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives premiere date
On September 6, 2024, six episodes will drop onto Hulu as the series takes its big moment in the spotlight. The Mormon mom group took over TikTok back in 2022 thanks to their unorthodox marriages and lifestyles. In the trailer, a woman can be heard saying, “No one was innocent. Everyone has hooked up with everyone.” But since the scandal broke, multiple women have denied ever being a part of these sexual escapades. There hasn’t been any news on a possible Season 2. But if it is as juicy as Season 1, Hulu might just need to get those contracts signed, stat!
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast
The cast is filled with young, attractive Mormons who seemingly all decided to soft swing. The term refers to couples in open relationships who swap partners without having penetrative sex. But it does include kissing and oral sex. Taylor Frankie Paul seemingly is the ring leader in this three-ring circus as she caused a firestorm on TikTok under the platform of Mormon #MomTok in June 2022 during a live update. At the time, she shared that she and her husband were getting a divorce. The brunette noted that she and Tate Paul had a swinging arrangement, but she went too far by “going all the way” with another man in their group.
On her TikTok, Taylor shared, “The whole group was intimate with each other. It wasn’t like I was going around hooking up with my friend’s husband. It was, like, we were at a party, I got belligerent, and we went and messed around by ourselves rather than the whole group.” The group and cast consist of Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Wessel, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Mathews, and Whitney Leavitt

According to a PR release, the Hulu series will be diving into “the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers implodes when they get caught in the midst of a swinging sex scandal.” The statement added. “Now, their sisterhood is shook to its core. Faith, friendship and reputations are all on the line. Will #MomTok be able to survive and continue to give the rulebook a run for its money, or will this group fall from grace?”
In the trailer, Mikayla notes, “I love the Mormon church, but there are a lot of rules that we have to follow.” Another mom adds, “We were raised to be these housewives to the men, serving their every desire.” Another cast member, Mayci, adds that the whole point of their influencer group was “to break the stigma of gender roles in the Mormon culture.”
What we know about The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
After Taylor’s world came crashing down, she shared more than once on her social media that she was shunned by some of the same Mormon momfluencers that took part in the group soft swing. Taylor was arrested in 2023 (via the New York Post) for aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child, child abuse with injury, and criminal mischief. She was also accused of throwing a wooden playset at her now fiance, Dakota Mortensen.
While the entire cast seems thick as thieves, there will definitely be a rift within the group. The young women are hoping to change the way America views modern-day Mormons. But have they helped or hurt the religious group? We will have to tune in to see how it all unfolds.
