WATCH: Joan Vassos Sits Down With Family Ahead of Golden Bachelorette Debut

Joan Vassos first made an impression when she tried to forge a love connection with Gerry Turner. Gerry was the first Golden Bachelor. However, it was not meant to be, as Joan withdrew from the competition because of a family emergency. Now Joan is preparing to hand out the roses as the first Golden Bachelorette. And before she set off on her quest for love, she spent some time with her family to discuss what the show would entail. Spoiler alert: a lot of kissing.

Joan Vassos sought out advice ahead of her Golden Bachelorette journey

In a really sweet video, Joan and her mother-in-law, Elaine, were in the kitchen, prepping dinner with Joan’s mother, Mary. Elaine pointed out how Joan would always have them over for dinner. She mentioned how Joan would say, “Sunday is for family.” After they joked about who brought the wine and who would drink it, Joan’s mom said, “I can’t believe you’re the first Golden Bachelorette!”

Then Joan’s son Nick, his fiancée Brooke, and Joan’s daughter Ally entered the kitchen. “Mom, how do you feel about kissing another guy on TV?” Ally asked.

“Oh geez. I’m going to have to get used to that because you don’t want to be with somebody that you don’t like to kiss, so you have to, like try it out,” Joan explained. She continued, “I’m going to probably kiss a fair amount of guys on camera. I’m sorry, guys.”

Nick replied, “A fair amount?” Ally chimed in, stating, “We were not expecting that answer.”

Then the entire family, from babies on up, gathered at the table. It is obvious how much this family cares about each other. When Joan asked for a good question to ask the contestants on the first night, Nick suggested asking what their top three priorities were. But the most important question came from Joan’s grandson, Boomer. “What is his favorite dinosaur?” he suggested. “Well, obviously,” Joan replied.

Then Joan was asked what she was looking for in a man. “I’m very picky about a man being a gentleman. Somebody with a big heart. Somebody who is generous,” Joan said. “And also somebody who is humble.”

Nick told Joan, “Whoever that guy is, we want you to be happy.” Then Joan proposed a toast. “Thank you so much for all your support. I’m not here to replace Dad. I just want our family to be whole again,” she stated. “Cheers to a great adventure!” she added.

The Golden Bachelorette premieres Wednesday, September 18, at 8 pm PDT/EDT.
