Real Housewives of New York is returning! Season 15 will kick off on Tuesday, October 1 at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo. Erin Lichy, Sai de Silva, Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Jessel Taank, and Jenna Lyons will all return for Season 15. They will be joined by new Housewife Racquel Chevremont and “friend of” Rebecca Minkoff. The first teaser trailer for the upcoming season was released on Tuesday, August 13, and left fans with many burning questions. In honor of the new season, let’s unpack the teaser together.
Here are the questions I have going into Season 15…
What’s happening with Erin and Abe on RHONY?
Erin and Abe Lichy seemed like the perfect couple in Season 14. We watched them exchange heartfelt vows at their anniversary party and heard them boast about their active sex life all season. However, the Season 15 trailer presented a different picture. The pair appeared to be going through a rough patch. One scene featured a heated exchange between the couple in which Erin confronted her husband for lying to her. The sneak peek left me with a lot of questions about Erin and Abe’s relationship. Mainly, “What did Abe lie about?”
Erin opened up about her marriage in an interview with TODAY in February 2024. She told the outlet she had concerns about how the show would affect her relationship.
“We felt strong in our marriage for so long, but there were things that happened during the season that were hard for us,” she revealed. “I think it was hard for Abe.”
The RHONY star referenced one scene in particular in which Abe said he would sleep with other women if Erin stopped having sex with him. The conversation was lighthearted but many fans didn’t see it that way.
“In the moment, it was so silly and funny and stupid. Then when it aired, he was so upset, he really went through it,” she told the outlet. “He was like, ‘All these people are saying I would cheat on you.’ I could see how those moments could really plant seeds to destroy a marriage. Every relationship has ebbs and flows, but we make a lot of time for ourselves, not even with our kids. It seems so simple, but it gets really hard when you get busy with work and kids and everything. But it makes the biggest difference.”
Who Is the New Girl on RHONY?
Art Curator Racquel Chevremont is the latest addition to the RHONY cast. According to Bravo, Racquel is a New York native with over 20 years of experience in the art world. In the teaser trailer, Brynn referred to her as the “Lebron of the art world.” She is also a successful model. Bravo reported that the newbie has appeared in ad campaigns for several major beauty brands, including Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, Fila, and L’Oréal.
As for her personal life, Raquel lives in the city with her partner and two children. She is the second openly Queer Housewife to appear in the franchise. She spoke about her involvement with the franchise in a June interview with GLADD, telling the outlet she wasn’t sure if she was the right fit for the show.
“I honestly didn’t think they would be interested in me in the end because they already had a queer woman. I wasn’t sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women,” she told the publication.
She shared that she gave the offer a lot of consideration before ultimately deciding to join the cast.
“My family and I really had to think about it; in the end, it made sense,” she said. “My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there. What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise.”
Who Is the Other New Girl on RHONY?
In addition to Racquel, Fashion Designer Rebecca Minkoff will also be in the mix this season as a “friend of.” According to Bravo, Rebecca is “a best-selling author and powerhouse entrepreneur” known for her success in the luxury fashion world. In the teaser, Rebecca told Erin her company was worth 100 million dollars. Damn. Good for her. In the trailer, we saw the woman gossiping about someone having a wild night and getting pregnant by “some other guy.” Fans speculated that the girls were referring to Rebecca but that is unconfirmed. We’ll have to wait and see who the women were talking about.
What’s With All the Pigeons?
The theme of the trailer appeared to be pigeons, which both delighted and confused fans. There were several pigeon references throughout the trailer. The women mainly used the bird as an insult. Brynn called someone a “Central Park pigeon lady” and Ubah said the cast was full of pigeons (derogatory).
Fans shared their thoughts on the unlikely theme in the comment section of the trailer.
“They milked that pigeon thing way too much,” one comment read.
“So, last year all we heard about was cheese, and this year it’s going to be all about pigeons. Wonderful,” another fan wrote.
“So, we’re fighting about pigeons…This is going to be bad,” a third fan joked.
Honestly, I feel bad for pigeons. The RHONY girls really did them dirty in the trailer.
