Tamra Judge Recognizes She ‘Changed’ Real Housewives Forever

In Season 4 of Real Housewives of Orange County, our girl Tamra Judge changed the game when she posited the infamous question: Did you go to Bass Lake? Little did Tammy Sue know, that those six words lodged at Gretchen Rossi would change the Real Housewives game forever.

Now, over fifteen years and a hundred episodes later, Tamra knows just how much she changed Real Housewives, and she isn’t afraid to brag about it. During a recent episode of her podcast, Talking a Big Game, which she hosts along with her Traitors co-star, Dan Gheesling, Tamra took a moment to give herself a pat on the back for her major contribution to reality TV history.

Tamra knows she made a mark on Housewives

Tamra’s iconic Bass Lake question inspired a long legacy of shady Housewives antics. The Housewives franchise probably would have turned into the occasionally toxic mudslinging fest we’re all so obsessed with had Tamra not tried to drag Gretchen that day. On the podcast, she reflected on the moment.

“I came in Season 3, so there was two [seasons already], and they were kind of boring. It was very not like it is today, but you know it’s what started everything,” Tamra recalled.

Tamra reminisced on how she didn’t initially seek out a spot on the show. One of her girlfriends suggested it, and she said she “obnoxiously” filled out the application, not expecting a reply. However, a casting agent called her up shortly after and asked her for an interview.

“And so I ultimately got cast on the show, and I’m like ‘I don’t know why you want me, but here I am,’ and I really changed ‘Housewives’ as it is today,” Tamra continued.

“I came in feisty, calling people out. Before it was a very sleepy show, just documenting dinner with the girls. The day that I screamed ‘Did you go to Bass Lake?’ everything changed, and here we are,” Tamra explained.

Now, Tamra is celebrating Season 18 of RHOC and is one of the longest-running Housewives in the show — especially if you choose to ignore Seasons 15 and 16. Say what you want about Tamra, but you can’t deny that she’s a legend.

The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 airs on Bravo, Thursdays at 9/8c.
