The Traitors UK continues to take the reality TV world by storm. This time around, the award-winning show is in the news for an upcoming celebrity version of the series.
For those who are only familiar with the American version of The Traitors, the concept of a celebrity version might sound odd. In the U.S., The Traitors already has celebrities in the mix, letting reality stars mingle with the civilian competitors in the first season, before moving to all celebrities in the second.
However, the U.S. version is the outlier among the many international interpretations. Despite shaking things up, the show’s winning formula remained all too successful for NBCUniversal. Now, the BBC wants a piece of the celebrity pie.
BBC’s head of entertainment confirms The Traitors UK celebrity edition
On August 22, the BBC announced that The Traitors UK would see a celebrity version of the series coming soon. Officially, the channel announced the new series at the Edinburgh TV Festival. The Traitors UK celebrity edition will have a nine-episode run. Production and airing dates remain unknown, as well as potential cast members.
As fans wait for the latest version of the series, they can rest assured in knowing The Traitors UK Season 3 has been filmed while a fourth season was already greenlit. BBC’s head of entertainment, Kalpna Patel-Knight, spoke highly of The Traitors’ present and future.
“The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year,” she said. “The news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level.” Patel-Knight added, “It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!”
