Why Teresa Giudice Might Struggle With a Spinoff, and How It Could Succeed

Season 15 of Real Housewives of New Jersey came in like a lion and out like a lamb. Fans were promised one hell of a season. But all we were given were lackadaisical storylines, Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga refusing to speak, and a Last Supper Rails dinner that even would have left Jesus scratching his head. So, it is no big surprise that there is talk of a possible reboot. However, everyone is split down the middle on whether the franchise needs all new faces or just a few new ones. Naturally, the OG has been taking a stance and letting everyone know she will stay with the sinking ship until the bitter end.

Personally, I’m in this lifeboat. I don’t think for one second a spinoff that revolves around Tre or Luis Ruelas would be well received. Firstly, Tre has worn out her welcome. With years of constant fighting, fans have grown weary.  During the first few seasons, Teresa was delusionally lovable. All she seemed to want was to be a good Italian mother and wife. Yes, she stoked the flames when it came to rumors about Melissa, but let’s be honest, we all kept tuning in.

I dare say these were the seasons that she was more genuine with viewers. But once she knew what she had to do to stay in the limelight, she made a deal with the devil. Fast-forward to Seasons 13, 14, and 15, and it’s all gone downhill. No one likes or trusts her second husband. Luis claims that he is all about bettering himself, but he comes across as a snake oil salesman. Once again, Teresa buys what her husband is selling. If Teresa weren’t deep enough in her own drama, he has definitely added to the pile. A weekly half-hour show involving Luis isn’t exactly appealing to Teresa’s followers as she doesn’t have much more to give in the way of a storyline.

Teresa Giudice could entice fans with her food

Teresa knows how to produce some made-for-TV moments, and given the right production team, she could hypothetically produce a popular spinoff. With no family feud to rest her laurels on, the series would have to be entirely original. What could cameras capture that could be interesting?  I would be interested in if Teresa and Luis were going through marital pains. As fans know, the Season 14 trailer showed the duo arguing about money, but the scene was ultimately cut. I don’t think Teresa would commit to a second divorce, but I hope there will be a camera to catch it all if she does.

Another attractive option could be turning her into a Real Housewives, Martha Stewart. With three cookbooks under her belt, she is more than qualified to teach fans a few recipes. Personally, I wouldn’t mind learning how to make her homemade sauce or chicken parmesan. For a short time, Teresa did have a YouTube channel, Cook with Love, that dealt with her cooking, but it has since gone off the air. The Skinny Italian author is in her element when it comes to cooking, and fans get to see a better side of her, proving she isn’t always a fighter.

It’s hard to imagine Teresa on TV again. For years, Tre has delivered season after season but at a cost. The mother of four no longer has an extended family. She has allegedly fed storylines to bloggers. She essentially isolated herself from most of the group of friends. The OG just isn’t interesting between possibly being broke, Luis’ possible mob-like drama, and her daughters.

However, I think fans would be into a Melissa Gorga and Joe Gorga spinoff. And that would just kill Tre. However, the younger couple has a positive light around them. Melissa owns her own business, Envy, which is thriving. And Joe and Melissa are funny. The family recently traveled to Italy, and all I could think of was how entertaining their trip could have been for viewers. Sadly, I think it is time to thank Teresa for her time and finally put her on pause.
