The Valley stars Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor announced their separation in February 2024. The parents of three-year-old son Cruz seemed like they couldn’t decide how to navigate their split. But it looked like Brittany was determined to do what was best for their son, and herself.
Brittany Cartwright feels like divorcing Jax Taylor was the best choice
Brittany and Cruz moved out of the home that they shared with Jax. She revealed on The Valley all the terrible things that Jax said to her. Finally, Brittany filed for divorce from Jax on August 27, 2024. According to People, she listed “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their split and listed Wednesday, Jan. 24 as their date of separation. Brittany also requested primary custody of Cruz.
An insider told People that the couple’s divorce was a “long time coming” and “something Brittany knew she had to do for the best interest of herself and her son.” Brittany decided to file “in order to move forward and put a stop to this tumultuous cycle they’ve been living in.”
The source continued, “There’s a lot that has transpired over the past few months that she could not look past. This decision wasn’t made lightly but she feels adamant that it was the right one.”
As for how Jax is feeling? The insider claimed that he “is feeling mixed emotions.” He also “knows this is ultimately the right decision but is sad that things ended up the way they have. It’s been an emotional month for him and he’s trying to stay strong for his son.”
A rep for Brittany and Jax did not respond to People’s request for comment.
Since he has completed a 30-day stay at a mental health facility, Jax will reportedly return to filming Season 2 of The Valley. But Brittany has zero interest in filming with him. According to an insider, “Brittany was supportive of Jax’s decision to seek help for their son’s sake. However, going forward, she’s not interested in having anything to do with him.” Wow.
