Chef Jonathan Shillingford found himself butting heads with Aesha Scott over one dessert. In preparing a couple’s anniversary dessert, Chef Jono went awol. Instead of preparing something from the preference sheet, he made homemade ice cream, caramel sauce, a cake, and a cookie.
Aesha was not impressed. She felt a yacht should do better than that, especially on Below Deck Mediterranean. The cookie in particular was a little embarrassing, and Aesha shared the guest’s criticisms. “This is very disappointing,” she told Jono. “Really?” he asked.
When Aesha pointed out how disappointing it might be to receive a cookie on one’s anniversary, Jono said, “But it’s delicious!” All this after almost serving a deathly allergic guest a fatal dish? Aesha simply couldn’t take it. But it didn’t take long for Jono to clap back.
Jono felt Aesha was trying to “attack” him
On the August 26 Below Deck Med After Show, Aesha reiterated her feelings about Chef Jono’s dessert. She found his defense of the cookie “disturbing.” Jono, on the other hand, wasn’t all too pleased with Aesha’s take. Jono remarked, “I wish I had said, ‘Well b*tch, why don’t you f*cking eat it? Like you do eat the other leftovers that come back from the guests?’” Yeesh.
Jono admitted he thought about the moment a lot because he was “really hurt.” He thought they had been working well together up to that point. “We’re still good friends,” he clarified. But he opined, “Usually, when you’re a crew, like, you stick with the crew, right? You don’t say, ‘I agree with the guest.’”
He also supposed that Aesha’s choice to show him the leftovers instead of clearing them was an act of aggression. “Really girl? Why you tryna attack me? … I’m a big softie! That hurt. However, Aesha wasn’t too affected. She was used to “sensitive” relationships between chief stews and chefs. Aesha recounted how she often received heat due to the chef’s actions. Listen, we all gave this man a chance but he has no business working on a yacht.
