Carl Radke Marks Four Years Since Losing His Brother: ‘He’s With Me Every Day’

Carl Radke has been a Summer House mainstay since Season 1. We’ve watched Carl go through so many of the ups and downs in life. We’ve watched his journey discovering his career path, partially thanks to Loverboy. Most recently, we’ve watched his engagement with Lindsay Hubbard unravel in real time.

One of the most raw and honest elements of Summer House, and Bravo in general, is Carl’s sobriety journey. Carl has opened up about his problems with drinking and cocaine usage. His downward spiral was documented in the early days of Summer House, until a tragedy served as Carl’s literal sobering moment. Carl’s older brother died of a drug overdose while he was filming the show. Carl received the call on camera and immediately turned to his then-bestie Lindsay for support. Since then, Carl has been focusing on his own health and well-being, but the memory of his brother will always stick with him.

Carl Radke never forgets

Carl recently spoke to People about the fourth anniversary of his brother’s passing from a heroin overdose at age 40. “He’s with me every day,” Carl said of his brother. “He’s a big source of inspiration and strength. I’m just living, trying to do the right things to honor him and not forget about him because he’s a big reason why I’m still alive.” Absolutely gut-wrenching.

Carl may have been in rocky drama during the recent seasons of Summer House, but it never should overshadow the trauma he’s gone through and the hard work he’s done to overcome his addiction issues. We send nothing but love to Carl and his entire family as they remember his brother and hope for nothing but healing and health for them in the future.
