As anticipation for Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars builds, fans are waiting to hear the list of contestants. So far, Stephen Nedoroscik, or the Olympian “Pommel Horse Guy” is the only confirmed competitor. But viewers are also waiting to hear if their favorite pro dancers will be back in the ballroom. One fan favorite, Lindsay Arnold, has shared that she won’t be part of the Season 33 DWTS cast.
Lindsay Arnold won’t be waltzing in the ballroom for Season 33 of DWTS
Lindsay departed the show ahead of Season 31 because she and her husband had plans to expand their family. Now in a recent TikTok, Lindsay explained why she isn’t part of Season 33.
“As many of you know, I was on Dancing With the Stars for close to 10 years. I stepped away from the show two seasons ago, and … I wasn’t like, ‘I’m done forever,'” Lindsay explained. “It was just like, ‘This is what works for my life and we’ll just take it one season at a time.’”
Then she detailed how the pros are waiting to hear if they are picked up. “I feel like some of you might know this, but some of you might not, that when it comes to the pros on Dancing With the Stars, you are never, ever guaranteed to be on the show. Ever,” Lindsay stated. “Even though I was under contract, the contract doesn’t guarantee you a job every season.” She added, “But you do need to be available to do it when you’re under contract and you can’t do other shows.”
Lindsay continued, “There have been many times on the show where a very long-standing pro who’s been on for a long time doesn’t get picked up … so you really, like, never know.” DWTS pros have to let producers know that they are interested in returning, but there are also other factors at play. Lindsay lives in Utah with her family, so she also has to make plans to move to Los Angeles.
Lindsay may return to the ballroom one day
“It’s not really something that’s been in the cards for me at this time in my life,” she stated. Still, Lindsay isn’t ruling out a ballroom return. “Never say never. But I will say, it’s been so fun to be able to watch and support my sister Rylee [Arnold]. It feels like this is just so meant to be … I just love the way things are going,” she added. Rylee was a first-time pro in Season 32.
As you may recall, Lindsay took home the Mirrorball Trophy during Season 25 with partner Jordan Fisher. Hopefully, we will see her back in the ballroom again.
Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars premieres on ABC and Disney+ on September 17.
