Let’s be honest here: Jax Taylor was never a catch. Sure, he’s classically handsome and has a great body. But, for seasons, he played the role of the Vanderpump Rules villain; something he did exceptionally well. The former bartender knew how and who to manipulate to get his way. He also never seemed to show any real remorse for his wrongdoings. So when he somehow landed Brittany Cartwright, it’s fair to say that everyone was a bit confused. Brittany was sweet and kind, so it was like watching oil and water mix. Love makes you do some wacky things. But after four years of marriage, our Kentucky muffin finally took off her rose-colored glasses.
Jax Taylor lacked everyday grace
There were multiple moments when Jax could have grossed out Brittany, but in my opinion, it all started with him pooping with the door open. During an earlier season of Vanderpump Rules, fans and Brittany were given a glimpse of him in his natural toilet as he sat on the porcelain throne. As Brittany was trying to do the laundry, she exclaimed, “Babe, I don’t know if there is room left to hang anything in here.” To which Jax notes from his comfortable position on the toilet, “There better be room. I’ll literally have a meltdown if I see mess.”
Excuse me!? Brittany had only just arrived from Kentucky, where she had left Hooters behind, and he was treating her like a maid. But for Jax, Brittany moving in was very comfortable for him. I can only assume that he gained more of a housewife than a roommate.
During this same bathroom moment, Brittany shares that she is uncomfortable with Lala Kent attending Jax’s birthday in Hawaii. Jax agrees but then flip-flops and asks if she could come. The producers then jump to his confessional, where he admits, “I have a suspicion that Lala wants to sleep with me.”
Bless Brittany, because she absolutely knew Jax was gross and even called him out about how Lala claimed she wanted to flirt. I’m surprised the conversation was even entertained after she had to watch him squeeze one out.
Jax Taylor has demands for Brittany Cartwright’s boob job
If Brittany weren’t turned off by the watching her man sh*t, surely she would have had second thoughts after he demanded a certain breast size. During an earlier season, Jax convinced his former Hooters girlfriend to go under the knife. The former model has had three nose jobs himself. During the episode, Brittany was informed that she should go for a “full D” instead of her C-cup idea. At the time, Brittany was only 26 years old and had just moved to LA and caved to her boyfriend’s demands.
Jax obnoxiously pointed out, “It’s not just for you; it’s for me. Who doesn’t love big boobs?” If that weren’t enough, Jax continued to say, “I’m ready to throw some Ds on this,’ pointing at Brittany, adding, “Go big or go home.” After the operation, Brittany needed a lot of help. Jax was in charge of helping her to the bathroom, noting, “This is serious boyfriend duty.”
It’s moments like this when you wonder how Jax and Brittany lasted so long. She caved into a command from her man that meant she had to go under the knife for something she wasn’t entirely sure she wanted. This is still the 21st century, right?
Jax Taylor gaslit Brittany
Who thought that giving Jax a second show was the right thing to do? Obviously, he knows how to stir the pot, but he isn’t nice. But no one was prepared to watch Brittany be gaslit over and over again on The Valley. During Season 1, Brittany was called out for her alleged drinking. During a rather turbulent fight, Jax noted, “I’ve been dealing with this for eight years. Every time you’re in that bathroom, it’s because you’re hungover. So maybe don’t drink at all.”
Jax was cruel in the way he picked on his wife. The father of one continued saying, “If you can’t handle your alcohol, then you stop f*cking drinking.” Brittany was clearly riled, as she noted in her confessional, “I feel like Jax is sucking the life out of me and sucking away all my sparkle. How much more of this can I possibly take? I’m starting to realize all the little things that I have put up with for all nine years of my life.” Then, we all realized Brittany had checked out of her marriage.
As James Kennedy once said, “He will make a great first husband.” Here’s hoping Brittany finds her happiness elsewhere, when all is said and done.
