Dancing with the Stars Season 33 is shaping up to be the most unhinged yet. We’ve got Real Housewives, Olympians, and a curious assortment of actors competing for the Mirrorball Trophy. Then, randomly they decided to toss in convicted con artist Anna Delvey aka Anna Sorkin; what a DWTS treat. The cast photos for the season just dropped, and Anna happens to be rocking a unique little accessory around her ankle. Is this supposed to be campy, or has DWTS officially jumped the shark?

If you’re not caught up on the latest in Anna’s world, she got released from prison for her fraud charges back in February 2021. Then, she found herself in more trouble when immigration authorities claimed she overstayed her welcome in the United States. They tried to deport her back to her home country of Germany.
A judge allowed Anna to stay in the country while fighting her deportation case. The only catch was she got ordered to home confinement, thus the ankle monitor.
For the Season 33 DWTS promo, the show seems to be fully leaning into their con artist castmate. She’s partnered up with recently promoted dancer Ezra Sosa, and in a press release, they call her the “notorious ankle bracelet fashionista.” They’re really trying to pass this off as chic.
There are still lingering questions about Anna’s involvement in this show. If she’s supposed to be on house arrest in New York City, how in the world is she going all the way to Los Angeles to foxtrot alongside Ezra? According to Insider, she quietly scored a victory in an appellate case earlier this summer that gave her a bigger taste of freedom.
“She’s generally free to live her life now, subject to periodic court appearances and things of that nature,” her lawyer told the outlet.
Clearly, we all need a lawyer like Anna’s. She’s still working to get her criminal convictions vacated. Meanwhile, you can catch her on the dancefloor competing for the trophy.
