Dancing with the Stars Alum Ezra Sosa Promoted to Pro for Season 33

TW: This article mentions domestic violence.

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars has featured a shake-up in the ballroom. Several pros, including Lindsay Arnold and Peta Murgatroyd, did not return this season. Plus, Artem Chigvintsev isn’t part of the cast amid his arrest for corporal injury to a spouse. Of course, we don’t know whether Artem’s arrest is the cause of his absence this season. However, now it is time to welcome a new DWTS pro, Ezra Sosa!

In 2021, Ezra joined DWTS as a member of the dance troop. “It hasn’t hit me yet. When I got the call, I honestly was in a state of shock,” Ezra told GLADD. The call to be a full-time pro has been a long time coming.

Plus, representing the LGBTQ community this season is thrilling for Ezra. “When I first joined the show, I had a huge sense of imposter syndrome because, at the time, I wasn’t out … and it wasn’t until this year when I realized the power, the power of being fruity and the power of just truly just being yourself,” he explained. “When I first joined the show, it was the first time I was in an environment where I truly felt accepted. That has a huge sense of me becoming the person I am today,” Ezra added. And the newest pro is excited to be showcasing his Latin roots on DWTS.

However, Anna Delvey is Ezra’s partner. She is a controversial pick for the show. As you may recall, she is a New York socialite who is currently on house arrest. She allegedly helped herself to approximately $275,000 by deceiving some financial managers. Anna’s problematic history may result in an early exit.

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars airs on September 17 at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
