Every once in a while, a new show in this oversaturated reality TV world breaks through requiring immediate viewing, and that is The Anonymous. The producers of The Traitors and The Circle created the USA Network strategy-based competition show. The contestants must navigate two game modes to compete for a chance at up to $100,000. The Anonymous has quickly become one of the most thrilling first seasons of a new reality show in a long time. If you’re not tuning in, you’re missing out on the excitement and suspense that this show delivers. I will share why you should be watching the show, where you can watch it, and who I believe will win.
What is The Anonymous, and how can you watch it?
A reality competition where 12 contestants live together and compete for a prize of up to $100,000. The series is hosted by an AI named Dani, who tells the cast what to do daily and the rules of each game and competition. The game is divided into two parts: one played in person inside the house and the other in “anonymous mode.” In anonymous mode, the cast picks a digital handle where they hide their identity from one another. In this mode, the cast can stir up drama and create havoc to shift the game however they want.
Studio Lambert, the team behind creating the series, sprinkles some of our favorite competition shows into one game. There are three aspects of each episode of the show. First, The cast can add money to the pot in each episode by competing in a game. Then, after the cast mix and mingle, they are sent into their hideouts, where they talk in anonymous mode, followed by putting someone up for elimination. Finally, the person who has kept their identity best concealed sends someone home.
The Anonymous airs Mondays at 11 PM EST on the USA Network.
Why should you be watching The Anonymous?
If you’re a fan of The Circle or The Traitors, you’re in for a treat with The Anonymous. This show doesn’t waste a single moment of airtime, playing out its intense drama daily. Unlike other shows that feel like they’re dragging with filler, The Anonymous keeps you on the edge of your seat, sending contestants home daily.
Another reason to watch the show is its unpredictable nature. When the cast is thrust into their hideout, you see each contestant’s edgier side. In this mode, the cast can play a bit of an edgier game. Is there someone you want out? Or is there an alliance you are trying to expose? This is all in play because you are hiding behind a digital handle. Nothing has been more fun than Jack aligning with Andy in the house, only to throw him under the bus in the hideout. Like most reality series, the cutthroat aspect of the show is rather intense.
The most unpredictable (and amazing) aspect of The Anonymous is that you can be eliminated by receiving just one vote. Each episode sees the cast put people on the block, and no matter if you get seven or one votes, you can be sent home by the anonymous winner. As a result, we have seen not one but two people who only received one vote sent home. That type of unpredictability makes this show stand out from the rest.
Who will win The Anonymous?
Through the first five episodes, we’ve had a chance to study everyone’s gameplay. However, when three new players joined the game, and everyone got a digital handle refreshed, it threw everything for a loop. That said, I’ve got my eye on two people who could be the first winner of The Anonymous.
Jack is flying under the radar even with his strategic gameplay and alliances. He has won the anonymous twice, eliminating two people, so his digital handle isn’t being matched to him. The biggest obstacle Jack faces to winning is staying on the down low. If, at any point, he triggers even the slightest of alarms, it could be game over for him.
My other pick for who will win is Xavier. I almost went with Nina, but the news of her being Sandra’s daughter has stirred up some chatter, likely leading to her demise. Xavier has already won Big Brother and has somehow not been a “threat” yet. His name has been brought up for elimination several times, but his alliance ties keep him sailing through. Xavier is an intelligent player who knows when to step it up. It wouldn’t shock me to see Jack and Xavier as our final two on the show.
