The cast for Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars is certainly eclectic. Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling is competing against Real Housewives of Atlanta peach Phaedra Parks. Then we have Bachelor Nation members Jenn Tran and Joey Graziadei. But NBA star Dwight Howard and his partner, Daniella Karagach, are getting people talking. Is Dwight the best competitor this season?
Season 33 DWTS contestants picked Dwight Howard as the one to beat
Well, the DWTS cast has spoken, and they have named Dwight as the ballroom competitor to beat. “Thank you guys. We’re going to just go out there and really give it our best,” Dwight told US Weekly. “I know everybody’s expecting us to do so many great things, but it starts with day one.”
And Dwight is ready to drill down and focus on practice. “Practice makes perfect. We’re gonna go out there and I’m gonna make sure I do whatever I can to give my partner the best opportunity for us to shine out there,” he explained.
However, practice for the dancing duos of Season 33 hasn’t started yet. “We’ve talked a lot about things that we like. But this is our first time, coming up in a couple of days,” Dwight said, “actually getting on the dance floor and practicing.” In a funny moment, when asked who the biggest threat in the ballroom is, he named his partner, Daniella. She chimed in, “He’s not wrong.”
Dwight said, “She’s tough, but you know what? I just can’t wait to learn from her. Hopefully, at the end of that journey, we’ll be holding up — well, I’ll be holding her up. I’ll be holding her up and she’ll be holding the trophy up,” he added.
Since Dwight stands is 6-foot-10, their height difference would seem to be detrimental. Not so, according to Daniella. “Just you wait. Honestly, though all I could ask is for him to have just an open mind to this whole process, and he already does,” Daniella stated. “He is already the most amazing partner, so I’m just excited to get started.”
As you may recall, Daniella took home the Mirrorball with Iman Shumpert during Season 30. He stands at a lofty 6-foot-5. But Dwight and Daniella will have to make some adjustments. “All the traditional stuff and frame, it’s definitely gonna have to be altered. Like, there’s just no way. Things are gonna have to be different,” Daniella explained.
I can’t wait to see what Dwight and Daniella bring to the ballroom!
