Jax Taylor Reveals How Mental Health Facility Stay Worked

The first season of The Valley heavily featured the marital turmoil between Jax Taylor and his wife, Brittany Cartwright. I’m sure this isn’t the big reality TV comeback they envisioned. The couple, who share a son, Cruz, decided to separate. However, Brittany decided to make that separation permanent by filing for divorce. As for Jax, he recently returned to filming Season 2 of The Valley following an in-patient stay at a mental health facility. Now he is sharing exactly what his stay was like.

Jax Taylor reveals what life was like at the inpatient facility

Jax spoke out solo on his podcast When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany. The couple will no longer podcast together. “I will touch on a few things to give more context of what my stay at the facility kind of looked like because people are asking and there’s a lot of speculation online,” Jax said.

“So, at the facility, I was allowed to have my phone during specific hours when I wasn’t in therapy. Ah – my therapies were approximately seven hours a day and I was allowed outside the facility for like an hour each day. So, I would go to the gym,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said. “I was accompanied by, like a nurse, and yeah. I would go to Crunch every single day, probably I think for like an hour. A driver from the facility took me and checked on me the whole time.”

Jax continued, “But every facility has different … different rules. Those 30 days were an incredible experience. My days were very, very structured.” He added, “I realized that’s something I really needed in my life, you know? Some structure.” Hopefully, that realization will help Jax move forward.

“I was at the gym by 8 o’clock. And then I would be back around 9:30 – 10 o’clock for my therapy sessions. I would do that usually for about seven hours,” Jax explained. “But just because I went to the facility for 30 days definitely doesn’t mean I’m coming out cured, or a changed man by any means. Although I wish it did work that way.”

He added, “However, I am committed to trying to be a better version than I was yesterday. Small steps, use coping skills I was taught in therapy, trying to get through the day.” While at the facility, Jax was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is taking medication. “I’ve been put on some serious medication that’s actually helping me out a lot,” he said.

We are sending our best to Jax as he embarks on this mental health journey.

The Valley is streaming on Peacock.
