TW: This article contains discussion of self-harm.

Vanderpump Rules fans loved Stassi Schroeder for her unabashed attitude towards life. But no one knew what the former Bravo star was once struggling with. The mother of two is now opening up about her battle with self-harm in hopes of helping others.

In her new book, You Can’t Have It All, Stassi is opening the channels of communication. Along with addressing her self-harming, she will also talk about her former addiction to Adderall. The drug is meant to help those with ADHD. During the Season 7 reunion, Stassi revealed that she had given up her addiction. She had noticed she was treating her friends poorly and had a few “dark passenger” outbursts.

Stassi is over hiding her secrets, as the blonde maven recently shared during her interview with Bustle. Stassi shocked readers after admitting that she previously engaged in self-harm. The author also revealed that she has been struggling to explain this information to her three-year-old daughter, Hartford. Stassi has always been open with fans. Now, they will be able to read about it in her upcoming book, “You Can’t Have It All.

The Vanderpump Rules alum decided to be open about this part of her life, saying, “It just feels like it’s been a secret, and I don’t like secrets.” The 36-year-old shared that part of the reason she chose to be in the limelight with reality TV and hosting her own podcast was “because there is this feeling of, ‘I’m free. Everyone knows my sh*t. I don’t have to hide anything.’” Stassi noted how her daughter had started to notice her scarring, saying, “When I look at myself naked, Hartford will see a little line, and she’ll be like, ‘Mommy, ouchie.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, God, that feels dirty. How will I ever explain to her that this was something that I chose?’”

Thanks to Stassi’s courage, more attention is being paid to what really happens behind the scenes for some reality TV stars.
