As if Diddy’s reputation hadn’t already gone down the drain, Dawn Richard just dropped another bombshell. The Danity Kane singer who appeared on Season 3 of Making the Band has accused the former host of sexual abuse, among other crimes. It’s just the latest example of a Hollywood superstar (allegedly) abusing and exploiting a young, talented woman.
What to know about Dawn Richard’s accusations against Diddy
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Dawn filed a lawsuit against Diddy accusing him of “manipulating, terrorizing, and sexually abusing” her. Allegedly, things got worse after Making the Band wrapped Season 3.
In the court docs, Dawn recalled how Diddy promised to further her music career if she caved into his demands. In one instance, he demanded her to come to his house in nothing but underwear. Once she got there, he reportedly yelled at her, “This is my f-cking house!”
The court docs explained how the abuse became interwoven into Dawn’s career. At one point, she said he forced her to rehearse for 48 hours straight, forcing her to the point of dehydration. In another example, she said he barged into her dressing room and touched her inappropriately while at his recording studio.
Dawn corroborated Cassie’s claims of abuse
In Dawn’s lawsuit, she also described her experience witnessing Diddy’s alleged abuse against his ex-girlfriend Cassie. Last year, she filed an explosive lawsuit where she accused him of rape and years of abuse. That lawsuit was quickly settled, but Dawn described her firsthand experience of the terrifying behavior.
“I’ve been asking you for my sh-t,” Dawn recalled Diddy telling Cassie during one argument. “I can’t stand you bitch, you never do it right!”
Dawn said she and her bandmate from Diddy-Dirty Money tried to convince Cassie to break free from the abusive situation. When word got back to Diddy, that caused an even bigger eruption.
“Y’all bitches don’t get in my relationship. Don’t tell my bitch [Cassie] what she need to be doing,” Dawn recalled of Diddy’s reaction. “Just make money and shut the f–ck up. I end artists, I shelve careers. You could be missing. You bitches want to die today.”
Diddy hasn’t responded to the allegations raised in Dawn’s lawsuit. However, it’s worth noting that when Cassie presented similar claims, he denied the allegations. Months later when video proof came out of how he treated Cassie, he followed up with an apology. But, for something this serious, saying sorry simply won’t cut it.
