Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars debuted, and it was terrific. The cast includes athletes, actors, four reality stars, and one convicted criminal. One of the reality stars is Joey Graziadei from The Bachelor. He is paired with DWTS pro Jenna Johnson, and they have great chemistry. And Joey is proving to be an excellent study.

Joey and Jenna performed a country-themed Cha-Cha to Tyler Hubbard’s song, Dancing in the Country. They performed first, and I was impressed. The duo received a score of 21 out of 30 from the judges, and they tied for third place on the leaderboard.
When it came to whose idea it was for Joey to show his abs, there wasn’t a question. “I’m going to take full credit for this. This is Dancing With the Stars,” Jenna told US Weekly. “It’s over the top, he’s wearing rhinestones. Like, we need to just play to our audience, and they love that.”
And Jenna suggested the idea before their dance. “I’ll never forget talking about it for the first time, and you’re like, ‘What am I going to do?’ But you nailed it,” she stated. While Joey may have been nervous to free his rippling abs, he “trusted” Jenna. Joey said, “So whatever she said I was doing, I said, ‘I’ll do it.’” Trusting your partner is the number one rule.
During the DWTS premiere, Joey joked that instead of being sexy, he channeled “Golden Retriever energy.” He added, “I know there’s a lot of dances where you have to sell sexy, and I am going to have to learn.” However, Jenna gave Joey props for his moves. “I’m sorry, but there was a little taste of sexy tonight. You know, I think the audience was a little surprised,” she stated.
Plus, Joey also found a way to repurpose all the sweet dancing moves that he learns during the show. “I’m obviously getting a lot of training here, so I think we’re going to step up our wedding dance moving forward,” Joey previously said of his nuptials. As you may recall, Joey found love on The Bachelor and proposed to Kelsey Anderson. Maybe a lesson from Jenna and her husband, Val Chmerkovskiy, would be a great idea for Kelsey and Joey.
