Nikki Garcia doesn’t want anything more to do with Artem Chigvintsev. Of course, no one can blame her. How could the Dancing with the Stars duo go on after Artem’s arrest?
For those unaware, police arrested Artem on charges of domestic violence on August 29. The victim remains anonymous, but police reported visible injuries. After that, Nikki quickly vacated the house to stay elsewhere.
A few days later, Nikki filed for divorce. Now, the couple’s attorneys battle over the divorce proceeding’s terms. If things weren’t difficult enough for Nikki already, now the case has to drag on for some time.
Nikki Garcia can no longer “recognize Artem as the man she married”
An inside source recently spoke with Life & Style about Nikki’s headspace amid the divorce. “There’s no going back,” the insider said. “Nikki doesn’t even recognize Artem as the man she married.” However, it wasn’t just the arrest that prompted Nikki to file for divorce. The two allegedly had many problems before things reached a tipping point.
“Nikki and Artem’s relationship was volatile,” the source explained. As an example of the turmoil, the insider said “Like a lot of people, she found his, at times, controlling behavior troubling.” Nevertheless, the two seemingly tried to work through it. “Nikki hoped that counseling would help get them to a healthier place.”
Reportedly, Nikki did everything in her power to salvage the relationship. “She didn’t want to break the family up, but then Artem crossed the line, and now she feels she has no other choice.” At this point, there’s nothing more that Nikki can do except terminate things. “She just wants to end their marriage as quickly and painlessly as possible.”
