Sister Wives Star Kody Brown Sued by Ex-Wife Christine for Custody of Daughter

Nearly three years ago, Sister Wives fans watched as Christine Brown hightailed it away from her spiritual marriage to Kody Brown. This former couple shares five daughters and one son together. For 19 seasons, we watched as these children grew up on TLC. But following Christine’s split from Kody, she and Truely, their youngest child, packed up and moved back to Utah, where Christine has just slapped Kody with a lawsuit, seeking custody of their little girl.

Christine was a pro at putting Kody in his place, so it wasn’t shocking that she was the first of his wives to pound the cement. After she fled, two of Kody’s other wives also said deuces. Their exits left Kody with Robyn Brown, his only legally bound wife. But this union is also cracking, so good luck, Kody.

On Monday, September 16, 2024, Christine filed a lawsuit against her now ex, Kody. She filed because she wants custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Truley. According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Christine has to establish paternity, as her ex’s name is not on Truely’s birth certificate. Since they used to live in Utah, where their newly-failed polygamist lifestyle is illegal, fathers are often not listed in plural family situations.

In addition to custody, Christine is asking the courts for child support. She also wants a domestic relations injunction. This request, if granted, prevents Christine and Kody from engaging in domestic violence or harassment against the other while in Truely’s presence.

Where Truely is concerned, this request of Christine’s will also see the parents having to come together. Not romantically. Christine already ticked this box off by marrying David Woolley. Instead, she and Kody will have to start coming together to make decisions as one, that is, if the decision involves Truely.

This filing prevents either parent from acting as the sole decision-maker. It’s a smart move. It will help protect Truely from either (meaning only Kody) of her parent’s one-sided whims. But, what say you (to all of this), Kody?

Sister Wives Season 19 airs every Sunday at 10/9c on TLC.
