Survivor 47 is officially here! The season kicked off with a wild two-hour premiere that was filled with crazy twists and turns. Host Jeff Probst welcomed 18 new castaways to the island of Fiji, where they began their journey. The three tribes this season are named Gata, Lavo, and Tuku and are represented by yellow, red, and blue respectively. After winning the first challenge, Gata struggled during the immunity challenge which ultimately sent them to tribal council. This resulted in Jon Lovett being the first castaway voted off this season.

The premiere revealed a lot about this season’s players, some of whom we are super excited to see more of. While some of them stood out for their strategy and charm, others made a more chaotic impression. Nonetheless, Survivor is a reality show and some spicy drama always adds something interesting to the mix. These five castaways made a name for themselves during the premiere and we are intrigued to see more from them soon.

Survivor 47: Andy Rueda

Andy Rueda certainly turned heads during his debut on Survivor 47, for both good and bad reasons. During the first challenge, Andy helped his Gata tribe secure the win. It was immediately evident that Andy was a strong player in terms of strength, but his social game was lacking. Andy felt that the rest of his tribe didn’t appreciate him and felt frustrated that they didn’t cheer for him when he cracked a coconut, but did so for Jon.

The craziest moment for Andy was when he began to spiral after the immunity challenge loss. Andy laid down before the challenge finished, which prompted Jeff to send medics to check on him. It turned out Andy had just overheated but he then went on to proclaim in front of everyone that he felt he was on the bottom. Ultimately, Andy was safe at tribal council because his tribe valued his physical strength. While Andy might be a controversial player, he’s an entertaining one. It will be interesting to see how he continues to play his game.

Survivor 47: Gabe Ortis

Gabe Ortis began his game on a strong note during the Survivor 47 premiere. After getting to camp, Gabe wasted no time searching for an idol. Gabe managed to find a beware advantage pretty quickly, which of course had its twists. The advantage offered Gabe the opportunity to take an idol good for one tribal or keep searching for one valid for three. Gabe took the risk and successfully retrieved the next idol. While he could’ve kept going for a third one, Gabe made a smart decision to keep the second one as it was still so early in the game.

Not only is Gabe’s strategy game strong, but his physical and social skills are great as well. Gabe has been a good asset to Tuku in the physical challenges and is definitely one of the tribe’s stronger players. In terms of his social game, Gabe has already established a strong alliance with Sue Smey. Gabe told Sue about his beware advantage right away, which helped to build trust between them. So far, Gabe is setting himself up for a successful Survivor game and we are excited to see what he does next.

Survivor 47: Sue Smey

Speaking of Sue, she’s another player on our Survivor 47 radar! At 59, Sue is the oldest player this season but from the way she plays, you would never know! Sue proved her physical strength during the first challenge, where she effortlessly carried a heavy puzzle piece on her back. Furthermore, Sue was a valuable asset to Tuku during the immunity challenge and helped them to keep moving along despite running into some difficulties.

Sue is also excelling in her social game already. Her alliance with Gabe is a great start and she’s also built a close bond with Caroline Vidmar. Sue may be older than the rest of her tribe but she hasn’t had any trouble connecting with them. It’s also clear that Sue is a loyal ally, as she worked to distract the rest of the tribe while Gabe went to search for the idol.

Survivor 47: Rome Cooney

Rome Cooney is one of two Lavo players that stood out during the premiere. During both challenges, Rome proved himself to be one of the strongest physically on Lavo. Being a strength-oriented player always has its perks, especially when it comes to the merge. However, Rome’s most iconic moment of the episode was his adventure back at camp.

While the rest of the tribe bonded, Rome immediately set off to find an idol. He thought he was being subtle but his tribe mates quickly noticed what he was up to. After endless searching, Rome eventually found a beware advantage that led him to an idol. Rome worked hard for the prize, even opting to dive into the water well to find a key. While Rome’s game hasn’t been flawless so far, he could end up being one of the season’s most well-rounded players.

Survivor 47: Teeny Chirichillo

Teeny Chirichillo was one of the first players introduced on Survivor 47 which helped her to make a fast impression. The biggest strength for Teeny so far has been her social game. Teeny might be the strongest social player in the game so far, as she instantly clicked with her entire tribe. Teeny is extremely likable, which could easily earn her jury votes if she makes it to the final three.

Beyond her social skills, Teeny is also a strong team player in challenges. While Teeny may not be the strongest physically, she is a positive motivation for her team which is also essential. Teeny didn’t come to mess around, so it will be interesting to see how far she can make it on Survivor!
