The cabaret queen of Real Housewives of New York, Luann de Lesseps, is known to stick up for the underdog occasionally. This time around, she seems to be taking the side of Shannon Beador in her very public fall from grace. Shannon has had an uphill battle ever since she drove into a house and found out that her ex-boyfriend, John Janssen, was dating Alexis Bellino. But Luann has been in the same boat and is offering some kind words even when some of Shannon’s co-stars are keeping their lips sealed.
Luann de Lesseps is making sure Shannon Beador feels the love
The Money Can’t Buy You Class singer is no longer holding her tongue as she sees an injustice in front of her regarding Nine Lemons Beador. While speaking on the Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, the countess couldn’t hold back her disdain for John after he decided to sue Shannon. Luann quipped, “How are you going to take back a facelift? But that shows you what kind of caliber this man is.” The Real Housewives of New York City alum added, “Money can’t buy you class. But it can buy you a facelift, thank you, buh-bye! See ya!” As Bravo fans know, Shannon and John have not had the most amicable breakups.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star and John broke up in 2023, but instead of moving on, she put herself in uncomfortable moment after uncomfortable moment. The nail in the coffin was finding out that Alexis had been added to the newest season as a ‘friend of.’ Luann showed empathy for Shannon, saying, “It’s horrible. That’s got to hurt. And I mean, this guy, what kind of guy does a thing like that on the same TV show? I would hate it. I would really have a tough time with it.” The former apple holder added, “Shannon has kind of been scorned by this guy. I’m not even going to blame the woman, but I’m not going to bring my boyfriend around her.” Has she been scorned or was she just dumped?
Shannon Beador needs all the backup she can get
Shannon hasn’t really been getting the support she thought she would from her TV friends. This might be because she had a DUI, put herself and others in danger, and continues to drink. Tamra Judge has stuck up for Alexis multiple times and has yelled at Shannon publicly about her drinking. Heather Dubrow and Emily Simpson have both stayed neutral as they tried to mediate between the two. But they have yet to create a truce.
The only ride-or-die Shannon has is Vicki Gunvalson. But that could just be because the OG wants to keep doing her Tres Amigas tour. Shannon has really been left alone on this island. Every day, there seems to be a new lawsuit or blackmail idea meant to keep her down. But aren’t they the consequences of Shannon’s own choices? Shannon is barely keeping her head above water and is clearly looking for a lifeline. Getting behind the wheel of a car drunk is one hundred percent wrong. But is it also wrong to keep piling on a woman who is on the brink of collapsing due to stress when she didn’t even bother to go to rehab to help herself?
Luann de Lesseps had her own issues with alcohol
Luann herself is no stranger to having a run-in with the law. On Christmas Eve morning in 2017, she was arrested in Palm Springs, Florida, via Page Six. At the time, the police report noted that authorities responded to a report of an intoxicated female at a hotel. A security guard claimed that Luann and another man trespassed into a guest’s room. The police report went on to claim that Luann shoved one of the police officers who tried to detain her. She also tried to lock herself in the bathroom and subsequently hit the officer with the door.
Luann’s antics didn’t stop there, and once inside the patrol car, she slipped out of the handcuffs. As the officer tried to handcuff her a second time, Luann told him, “I’m going to f*cking kill you,” and tried to kick the door open. Even after all that, Luann managed to come out on the other side. She went to rehab, which has helped her to identify her triggers. Hearing Luann step in to back Shannon was a nice gesture. And could show Shannon that there is light at the end of the dark tunnel.
