And once again, despite their best efforts, love did not survive outside the villa and another Love Island couple has called it quits. Joey Essex and Jessy Potts have split just seven weeks after returning to the real world.
That’s always the challenge when leaving any reality dating show. Being caught in a bubble can heighten feelings and protect couples from the pitfalls of everyday life. But going back to the real world brings with it real problems whether it’s distance, career, or just things not working out.

Unfortunately, it looks like things didn’t work out for Joey and Jessy. The couple confirmed to The Sun that they are breaking up but amicably and hope to be able to stay friends.
“We have decided to call an end to the relationship, but I hope we can continue to be friends,” Joey said.
He added, “I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.”
For her part, Jessy returned the love Joey gave and said that she is still happy to have connected with Joey on Love Island despite the ending.
“I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey,” she admitted. “We tried to make it work but it wasn’t meant to be. I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all the exciting opportunities ahead.”
While the split may have upset some fans, it also didn’t really shock anyone. Joey and Jessy have been battling split rumors since leaving the villa. Their issues mainly seemed to stem from their busy schedules preventing them from from being able to spend time together.
And Joey’s new career change probably made it even harder. It looks like Joey may soon begin training camp to become a boxer. For now, that’s most likely where he will be focusing his attention.
At least the two parted on good terms which isn’t always the case for reality TV couples. As for the winners of their Love Island season? Looks like Mimii and Josh are still going strong.
