The friendship between Mary Cosby and Whitney Rose has come a long way. At the Season 4 Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion, Mary accused Whitney of being racist. Before that, she humiliated her with just two words: “Little girl.”
A lot has happened since then, and in Season 5, we’re seeing a whole different relationship between them, so Whitney is trying to fill us in on what happened. Apparently, Mary has done a lot of changing since we last saw her on our screen, and it’s all for the better.
Mary Cosby turned over a new leaf
Whitney sat down with Entertainment Tonight ahead of the RHOSLC Season 5 premiere. In the lengthy interview, she talked a little bit about all of her costars, but it was the comments she made about Mary that really raised our eyebrows. According to Whitney, Mary buried the hatchet with her shortly after the Season 4 reunion.
“It happened right after the reunion. We ran into each other at the airport,” Whitney revealed. “She actually walked up to Justin [Rose] and started talking to him.”
Right there in the airport, probably in front of a Starbucks, Whitney said that she and Mary exchanged a “sincere apology.” They ran into each other again a few weeks later at Kathy Hilton’s Christmas party, and they “went right back to being friends.”
Whitney teased that in Season 5, we’re going to see their friendship evolve, and we’re also going to see Mary evolve too. Gone are the days of Mary hiding in the Sprinter van eating McDonald’s. Instead, Whitney said that Mary is fully engaged with the group.
“She participates in everything. It’s been amazing. She does everything with us. She’s fully engaged,” Whitney explained.
“Looking back at it, we never actually had the opportunity to get to know Mary,” Whitney continued. “She had a lot of chaos around her but we never got to know her. That’s something I regretted in the past, but she brings it.”
