Golden Bachelorette Suitor Had Restraining Order Filed Against Him

Less than a week after the premiere of The Golden Bachelorette, we’re already learning about the skeletons in the closet of one of the contestants. Gil Ramirez, one of the 24 suitors vying for Joan Vassos’ heart, had a restraining order filed against him by an ex-girlfriend.

You’re probably thinking, “Why don’t they do a background check on these people?” Well, they do. They just didn’t catch this; and they might actually have a leg to stand on…

During the premiere of The Golden Bachelorette, we met 60-year-old Gil, an educator and a father of two. We watched him get emotional after receiving a video from his son, and Joan gave him a rose.

However, a report from People revealed that one of Gil’s ex-girlfriends filed a domestic violence restraining order against him right before he filmed The Golden Bachelorette. She claimed he had “emotionally harassed” for her at least two weeks. Things never got physical, but she still felt concerned for her safety.

“Despite telling him to not contact me, come to my house — he made repeated unwanted contact with me, family members and friends,” the ex-girlfriend claimed.

She continued, “25 attempts daily via phone, texts, video. Although lives an hour away — showed up at places I frequent to confront me on a daily basis.”

The ex-girlfriend submitted the paperwork for the temporary restraining order just days before Gil left to film The Golden Bachelorette. The hearing was originally scheduled for July 2, but they had to postpone the hearing until July 24 once he returned from the show. That’s why none of this drama got picked up in the show’s background check; that had been completed before the filing.

When the two finally had their day in court, the restraining order ended up getting dismissed. Still, ABC isn’t thrilled about this coming to light. They’re reportedly editing the show to limit Gil’s screen time. So, don’t expect to see much of Gil moving forward; he definitely isn’t going to be the next Golden Bachelor.

The Golden Bachelorette airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on ABC.

TELL US – WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE REVELATIONS ABOUT GIL? DO YOU THINK IT’S FAIR THAT ABC IS REDUCING HIS SCREEN TIME BECAUSE OF THIS?
